What rear end are you running in your fleet side or step-side?
What are you guys running? Please specify truck year, fleetside bed or step-side bed. Just trying to make it easier for guys to find the awnsers people keep asking.
1. 12 bolt, ford 9in, 8.8 expoler, s10 ect. 2. Are you running 62 in or custom length for wider tires 3. Air ride custom or manufacturer, coilover, stock, notched frame 4. Gears, spool, differential, axels, yoke ect. 5. Brakes, bolt pattern 5x5, 6x5.5, ebrake 6. Rim size and off set, tire size 7. '65 GMC pickup rear (Dana 44) in my '57 3200.
Width is perfect. Welded on new spring perches in the correct location. Stock GMC brakes. Modified backing plates to use stock '57 ebrake cables. Used Jeep brake drums (modified by by my machine shop) because stock replacements are no longer available. Rebuilt the GMC rear and added a Trac-Loc (posi) unit and new 3.54 gears along with all the new bearings. Stock suspension. Wheels are steel 16X7 Smoothie from Wheel Vintiques. |

1974 K10 Dana 44 I think. 3:74 ratio open differental, large drum brakes. Factory 16" steel wheels with 235R85 tires, fit under the fleetside bed fender. engine is 74 truck 350 4 bolt main x .060 (355 ci), transmission TH350 w/ NP203 transfercase.

1959 Apache Short Fleetside
Dana 44 out of a 74 CJ5. 50" wide 3.73 gears custom disc brakes 4 link suspension 15x12 aluminum slots with 29x15.5 tires 355 cu in small block and 700R4  1959 Apache long Stepside Napco Stock 1957 with 59 Short Fleetside 1989 k10 Blazer 4x4 drive train under construction so not sure on tires. Building it with my son for him so probably big mud tires

57 short bed-bbw
complete 85 vette irs 3.54 gears -flat out engineering brackets . modified vette e brake cables to work with stock brake lever 700R4 trans -all corvette internals 350 v8 375 hp. |

To many people come on here and ask one question like what rear are you running and never post again. They never use the search or check builds so if they really want info they need to do some legs work !

Brakes, bolt pattern 5x5, 6x5.5, ebrake Stock C4 corvette 12" disk. 5x4.75 6. Rim size and off set, tire size 19x10, 28mm offset. 285/35r19. Bed sides notched for tubs. 7. Engine, HP, TQ, super charger, turbo, NA Stock 2004 5.3l/4L60E (280hp?). NA

1. 10 bolt, narrowed, TruTrac, 3.73 Yukon, 31 spline Moser
2. Narrowed for 10" neg offset wheels 3. Fat bar 4 link with coil overs, notched/boxed 4. See #1 5. TBD Wilwood, 5x4.75, Lokar ebrake 6. TBD 20x10, 18x8 7. GMPP ZZ383 stroker, 450/450, TCI Streefighter 700R4 Cheers, Jim |

Early 80's chev pick up 2wd diffy. 1 inch wider than stock but gives 3:07 gears. Drum brakes. Axles from stock diffy work so 6 bolt is retained.

So for the few guys that think the tread is dumb. The purpose of it is a central location for awnsers to a guys questions. I agree with the google it response but it can lead you down a rabbit hole for hours and not really help awnser questions.
And thanks for posting info to help other guys out. |

No one said it was dumb just needed info they should first search on builds and post. There are just to many variables in rear axle selection as there are in engines and tranny selection. We are talking 1947 to 1959 years from 1/2 ton trucks to 1 ton capacity. Plus we have what I call lurkers on by the number of post that person as made and length on this site and only asking a question or two and never to be heard of again. That's why the answer you get are meet with responses in the negative with central location. They are the ones that should be lost in a google rabbit hole. The central location idea will still require a search why not look at builds that actually pertain to the style that they are building. Sorry but no hard feelings but this post seems not productive.

I say roll with it.
If people are interested in it it will live on. Else it will fall off the back. Kinda interesting to see what axles and rear end setups people have used rather than trolling through 1000s of pages of separate builds. |

1958 Short Step side ,1/2 ton, I have a 1980 Trans Am rear end, drums,61.5 " drum to drum OD.,3.24 gear, 383, 700r4, stock springs , and stock shock mounts, with stock FRONT shocks on the Rear.
I think the thread is a good idea. Yes they will have to do a search to find it . But They will find some answers. Not everyone has a build thread. If some one does not want to contribute, I don't see why the need to reply . |

72 chevy truck rear with drum brakes in a 57 chevy half ton
wider than stock, but using flat wheels. fender edges rolled

Soon to be a ford 8.8 in my '52 s10 swap. For about $100 bucks you can get a limited slip, decent gear ratio, 31 spline axles and disc brakes. Not only that they are super simple to narrow.
