Thanks! It appears from the shop manual that the hub and drum are separate! Really confused me!

Take the 5 bolts off the hub cover . There will be a large nut behind it . Remove that and pull the hub. Hope the drum is ok . If not you have to remove the studs to get it away from the hub. Good luck.

Electrical help!
1953 6400. Power to coil! Power to points. No spark at plugs!
New points, condensor, plugs, rotor and cap?

I had basically the same problem once....turned out to be the condensor...
be just as well to just change it all...points, condensor, rotor button, cap

I failed to mention i replaced the condensor as well?

I guess I wasn't clear. I put in New points, condensor, rotor and cap.
Also new plugs. I have power to the points. Checked coil it's ok.
I'm at a loss?

check the points, sometimes they short out or have goop on the contacts so they don't actually contact. try turning the dist shaft till the points are open,then, with key on, short the points across with a screw driver. it should spark then. check for spark with the coil wire that goes to the dist normally. I have had trouble with new condensors being no good as well.

on the brake drum, you may have to loosen off the brakes first to get the drum past the shows.

[Second Series]

You can connect an ohm meter between the coil - and ground. disconnect the coil + first. Rotate the distributor to check for open/close on the ohm meter. You can crank the engine to get the points just open and have enough wiggle room to rotate the distributor by hand, or place the ohm meter where it is visible through the window to see it while you engage the starter. it should toggle 0v/ovl.
