Re: how to make a new truck into a square

The Big 3 (which ever are the 3 now) need to do something to increase sales. There all behind on there numbers. Here in N. Fl. you don't see as many new vehicles, mainly trucks on the roads. As you once did, the turn over isn't there.
I have kept in touch with all my dealership contacts, and talk with them regularly. And over all sales numbers are down across the board. Some area's better than others. As stated above the cost of a new truck takes most would be buyers out of the equation.

The new Big Ten 10 will take a while to grow on me.

I'm sure they cost more than I payed for my New Lincoln Hybrid. That's why I got a old square body. They just look to BIG, my wife couldn't even climb into it...lol

I think your missing the point. And, in 5 years his half as much will still be 5 times more than your twice as much.

And some people assume way too much....

I've priced new trucks. No thanks. I know @ least 2 guys @ my job that pay almost $1K a month between the truck payment + insurance. I can see it if you're using it for work. But when it sits beside my paid for CC dually (or my paid for CC 99) for 8hrs a day, there's no way me or Akart would be on the losing end of that financial scale.

That's an easy $50k truck on the lot. Once it makes it to your driveway, it's a $35k truck. Drive it & the value only goes down.

Re: how to make a new truck into a square

I have an old truck that looks like an old truck, if I bought a new truck I want it to look like a new truck, not a new truck trying to look like an old truck.

The tailgate and around the taillights is horrible, what little bit of OCD i have left is working overtime on that area, and also on the BIG 10-Cheyenne Super combination. This bodystyle doesn't really lend itself well to the square paint scheme imo.

Now on the other hand, the retro Desert Fox scheme on the new GMC that Low Sierra Company did on a customers truck in Dubai, looks great.

Re: how to make a new truck into a square

Love the idea, but it doesn't work. The sides are too sculpted, and it's hard to make it flow naturally. The tailgate above is nicely executed, but the position is too low. The white painted portion should align with the top and bottom of the taillights.

That being said, I do see similarities between my K2x 2500 and my 78:

Re: how to make a new truck into a square

Hate the price tags on the newer trucks and they don't hold up well but I think this adds a lot as far as style is concerned. I'm not a fan of how bland all the new trucks are. There's just no personality in them anymore.

To many differences on these new trucks, to look nostalgic. Such as: the windshield slope, the door handles, and the sheer size of the truck. The best retro mock up I have seen is a Jeep TJ, with CJ7 stripes, and graphics. The Jeep TJ looks similar enough (though still quite different.) to pull this look off. The current Dodge Challenger is also good for mock ups.

Stock 17" wheels. Using the silver painted spokes that come factory on the work trucks, painted white. Tires are 285 70 R 17, with a 2" Rough Country level kit. I have been told the largest tire size without a full lift

Here’s an 81-87 theme done by Hills Hot Rods in Lubbock. They actually painted everything instead of wrapped it.
