Cab light into a third brake light

Hey guys
Thinking about turning my cab light into a third brake light keeping the clear lense just adding a red bulb or led

Anyone done this or have any ideas on the best way to hook it up?

Thanks

Re: Cab light into a third brake light

Heres something you can do if you want to keep your cargo light . Center is red led and the 2 outer lights are cargo but not led . If I remember correctly this style if from a 90's truck . The hole will have to be trimmed with a dremel but fit pretty well .

I hate eliminating something to have another . Cargo light does come in handy at times .

As said above , just tie into the brake circuit under the dash with a new wire . Seems like I tied mine into the circuit at the brake light switch . You can not use the wires there . Interior light still uses them . You could clip the wire at the cargo switch that goes to the cargo light if still planning to use the oem light for the +12 from the brake switch . The ground on the cargo light will have to be removed from the door circuit and grounded independently .

Re: Cab light into a third brake light

I did this 2 weeks ago on my 87, easily done.
Just ran a wire from the brake switch up thru the cab to the cargo light, connected this wire to one side and grounded the other to the cab.
I bought a RED led globe and it works great.
