Not sure why you assume new metal only. But the hammers I've shown so far are nothing more then show queens now. I have close to 200 body hammers, I like to collection them. The ones that I have duplicates of and I find are a useful design then I will use it.

If you are thinking new metal only because of the high polish, well personally I like the high polish look. With that said, having your hammers and dollies polished also serves a purpose. Hammers and dollies are printing presses, meaning what is on their surface will become imprinted onto the metal. So if you have a hammer and dolly full of nicks and dings, the metal's surface will soon also become full of nicks and dings from your tools.

If your tools are polished the metal's surface will then also take on a polished surface.

There is an ABC offset hammer, a pure clone of the Porter Ferguson BH-8 hammer. The purpose of this style of head is to get around obstacles that the handle prevents you from reaching.

Hammer when it first arrived. Whoever replaced the handle clearly has no idea what the purpose of the hammer is for and installed upside down.

Not only did they install the head wrong they attacked the eyelet with a friggin angle grinder, why….

Got out my trusty 3in polisher and smoothed out the hack job with some 80 and 180 grit. Looks much better, I just don’t get why people abuse their tools.

In went a turd, emerging from the blast cabinet all nice clean bare metal.


After some work on the belt grinder with 80 grit to start then 180 grit at this point.


And all done, painted, sanded with 1500 grit and 4-5 coats of Tru-oil sanded and buffed.




Face is sanded with 1500 grit, I planned on using this hammer but it came out so nice I never polished the face before I painted the head, otherwise it be polished to a mirror sheen.




Sealer applied to the eyelet.

Wow, that is some awesome work, I even like the way you go about protecting yourself while at work.

You have showed your excellence in the rust belt art form. Not many do this any more. I would venture to say that even your work performed with these tools ends up the same if not better.

YES I Like , but aren't some of these Hammers - Meant to be on the Opposite side of Sheet Metal - during Striking to help Shape ? ( Or Shrink ) ?

Looks Like a few got - Purposed !

Just Saying some of these Old Tools - have a Purpose as too the Original Shape , Dam Man - I would have taken that 1 too a
Welder - do that Crack and but back to ORIGINAL . .
