Thank you. I'm pretty excited. Been wanting this truck for 30 years! Might have to give up my 72 to keep it, but it's definitely worth it to me.

Looks like my trucks better looking twin. I just need to install my cab trim & cargo lamp. What brand of tonneau cover do you have...is it a Craftec?

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II

Hey everyone! New to this forum and this is my first post! Although I have been using this site heavily for information. I just bought a 1977 GMC C15 fenderside a few weeks ago. It's a work in progress and needs some work, but here it is!

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds Part II

Here's my 81 GMC Street Coupe. I bought it a year ago. I always had it in my head that I wanted a squarebody shortbox, but it had to be a GMC, had to be 81-82, and I would paint it black and put a 454 in it. And I just happened to find one an hour or so away, so I went and picked it up.

It was originally black and silver, but at some point it was painted. The Street Coupe decals are long gone but you can still see the outline in the paint. It needs cab corners, front inner fenders, box sides, bumpers, tailgate, grille, there's a ding in the hood, the interior sucks, one of the tanks doesn't register on the fuel gauge, some of the factory gauges don't work, some of the aftermarket gauges don't work, the horn doesn't work, the wing windows aren't waterproof and the wipers run all the time unless you pull the fuse. But outside of that it's mint. And it's a black 81 GMC with a 454, so I guess it's what I wanted.

Got any before and after pics? I guess it started out as a long bed, was it a half ton or 3/4?

It started out as a half ton long wheelbase.

I cut 25" between the cab and rear axle and 1' off the back of the frame. And the same on the bed.
