Re: Electroplating of El Paso

Here are the before photos of what I believed were chrome caps for 3/4t trucks. Three were removed from a survivor k20 with 50k miles that I personally saw and these had a green patina coat. A thin fridge magnet did not stick to any of these.

Electroplating of El Paso notified me that these were in fact stainless so I had them polished not chrome plated.

So the yellow bow tie aside, I’m wondering if it’s a myth that blue bowtie convex caps were all chrome plated for 69-72. I believe some at least were stainless and here are three definite examples of OEM stainless caps used on a 72 Suburban.

Re: Electroplating of El Paso

I was looking for advice on a chrome plater when I ran across this thread. I’m looking at getting my 67 steel grill hoops and headlight bezels done. So I went to their site and submitted a quote request. I got an email from Ruben today with a ballpark estimate. He said $158 per hoop and $60 per bezel. I don’t think that’s too bad considering if I didn’t do it I would have to buy aluminum pieces. That’s price is conditional with them looking the parts over and then they will give me a hard quote. I’m going to try and get them in the mail tomorrow and I’ll keep updated with progress.

Re: Electroplating of El Paso

I have been using Electroplating of El Paso for everything I have done so far for the 39 Chrysler i am building and have been very happy with what they have done except for 2 grille pieces. I contacted Rueben, mailed them back and he redid them.they did 20 pieces of the grille, hood bird, nos tail light bezels and some other odds and ends.i had some parts done at Cambridge Custom Chrome in Cambridge, Ontario for my 67 Impala wagon, they do fantastic work but pricey.i emailed them pictures of what I wanted done for the 39,they answered back $6000.00.the man who owns our local machine shop building a 57 Cadillac told me he was using a place in Calgary, Alberta, Alberta Plating so I emailed the same pictures, $5500.00.then I emailed the pictures to Rueben and it was $1700.00.i preach all the time about how you get what you pay for, that's why I always try to buy quality stuff but really,I can't see any reason why the parts from Cambridge on my wagon are 3 times the price of what El Paso did for my Chrysler?

Re: Electroplating of El Paso

My most recent batch of parts that E of EP plated included a set of OE letters for a tailgate band and a K5 hatch handle in show chrome. No complaints- pieces look great.

Would it be possible to get name, number and address to the Chrome plating company.

Re: Electroplating of El Paso

I finally got my stuff in the mail. I’m glad to see so many people with a good experience with this company. I’m excited to hear back from them once they evaluate my parts.

Re: Electroplating of El Paso

I just used El Paso for the first time. Here are some before and after photos. Happy with the results. I'll be sending off the grill trim next, but gotta save up a bit first.
