Lift kit swap question.
I have a 1994 k3500 long bed Dually crew cab on 35’s with 6 inch tuff country ez rider lift and 2 inch body lift. Love. The truck and the look but frames soft and so on. So I found a cheap 1999 k3500 short bed Dually crew cab.
My main question is what’s the best way to swap the lift over? More the suspension lift then the cab lift. Unbolt everything from the frame and slide it out a unit or tear it all down and change it’s like a normal lift? Main reason is I don’t want to mess with torsion bars if I don’t have to. Any help would be great. |

I haven't taken my IFS lift off yet so don't know if you could take it off and slide it out "in one piece", but might not be a bad idea to take off individual pieces to clean and inspect, specially if the frame is getting soft. Mine is getting crusty around the bushings.

Since these lifts aren't "bolt-on" I think it would be best to disassemble. You could probably remove as a unit. But I think you'll want to be able to fit the frame brackets up piece by piece

i do believe the pressure will need to be removed from the torsion bars...
i think you want to remove crossmember and dif cradle all at once, if so...good luck and be safe. never tried it so i cannot speak for the safety side. i do see it being possible, but also very time consuming and cumbersome. remember, it will force the control arms to the full droop position, if you leave the knuckles and upper arms attached or even removing them, it may be a fight to get back into the other truck |
