Your two tone dash is inspirational!
I am going to put a chair in my cab now and stare at my dash to see if I can mimic what you have going on there some!

I am really liking your mods! I didnt see how you sealed the bottom of your overflow can though.

Good looking build, hope you keep us in plenty of pics for this project !!

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

This is the final placement of my battery. When I moved it to the bed, it was to the right of this storage box. Now the battery is in it.

I scored this from work for free!! Kinda hard to beat. Being this is a daily driver, I wanted more lockable storage. Now the battery is out of sight.

The seat fram was fab'ed out of steel. It works good. I wish I could slide it back further..

The liner on the floor has been down for almost a year now and has really held up well. This a daily driver and wanted something to last.

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

Lower ball joint install today.. Im fortunate to have a buddy with a lift in his garage!!

Here he is in action!! Let me tell ya, those 50+year old rivits didnt want to come out!! 5 hours later, both sides were done.

A little heat was needed... This was still the first rivit too.

Drivers side done!!

Once we figured how to get the rivits out, the other side was much faster.

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

The Tuesday afternoon project was to install the upper ball joints. They were much easier than the lowers a few weeks ago.

I think there is a ball joint in there somewhere..

There it is.

Its out.

I was so gung ho I put the wheel back on before I took the final pic.

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

I started on the upper control arm bushings last night. I got the drivers side done. It was easier than I expected. Today I will get the passenger side done.

Its in there somewhere buried under 50+ years of grease.

Arm is out.

The only thing I had large enough to get the caps off was this "monkey" wrench. Guess who the monkey was?

Cap off.

Old parts seperated.

Arm cleaned up with the new shaft.

Now its back together.

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

Continuing to work my way around the front suspension, today I replaced the lower control arm shafts and caps. That was a bit of a job. 2 hrs on the first one and an hour on the second. It went well, just a first time replacing these.

Here are some pics of the job.

50+ years of grease!!

Drivers side in.

Completed!!

LOVE the truck and the black and yellow! I was thinking of doing a bedliner interior myself, how do you like it? Any difference in noise in the cab?

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

Thanks! I really like the bed liner for the floor. No regrets there. I don't remember when I did it, it's been a year at least and has held up very well. It also quiet down some noises too. It's a daily driver and I have had no issues with it.

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

Today's project was to replace the guages that came with the truck.. They always worked, but didnt match.

I wanted to locate them where the factory radio goes. I dont currently have a radio so it was the best place to put it.. When it comes times to install a radio, I have a undercover plan for that.. Stay tuned....

These are the before pics.

New guages mounted to a "custom" plate.. It was made from a plastic door sign and painted to match.

Old guages removed

New ones going in.

Wires all tied up and complete!

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

We used a single stage on the dash but put a clear coat on the roof. I don't know the brand. My friend that painted it works at a local Chevy dealer. The can he brought it in had no label on it.

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

Thanks for the reply.

I think that is the perfect yellow for my truck but with a white roof.

Re: My 61 FL Apache 10

Its a GM yellow that was used on the later models of H2 Hummers. I really like this shade of yellow also.. I think a whole truck with it plus the white roof would look great too.
