Oil Filter adapter issue

Okay, so another riddle. 1965 C20 with a stock 283. I am looking for an oil filter adapter to convert to a spin on. I bought a transdapt adaptor 1024 that didn't fit. Then I went to NAPA and bought a Mr. Gasket that didn't fit. Both kits came with bolts that were to small to mount to the block. Pics attached are the block and the part I removed. To the left is the stock bolt ( the larger one)and then the one they supplied. Any ideas?

Re: Oil Filter adapter issue

If the only issue is the bolt size for fitting the adapter, maybe you could get away with just drilling out the holes on the adapter to fit the original size bolts?

Another option would be finding a heli-coil that screws into the original bolt hole and accepts the smaller bolt from the adapter kit.

Re: Oil Filter adapter issue

I had some sealing issues with the adapter the PO installed on my 283 and went with this one from Speedway.
