Need A/C Vents Template for non A/C Cab - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi all, does anyone have or know where I could get a template for factory A/C vents for the dash ends and the center vent above the radio?

I did the same thing to my non AC cab.

I have dimensions and locations at home in my files.

I will look tonight.

The hole "rides" up the contour of the dash towards the center of the dash. I cannot remember the diameter, but I still have the hole saw, so I will check.

The hard part is determining where the center of the hole is. I found it by using the old vent louvers. I cut and ground off the portion of the louver that protrudes into the dash. This allowed me to position the vent on the dash and trace the outline. Then, using that tracing I was able to locate the center of the hole.

I drilled a 1/4" pilot hole. I used a 1/4" rod in the hole saw instead of a drill bit. The rod was long enough to allow me to use the pilot hole, and start the cut towards the center of the dash.

I had to go very slow as the hole saw did not like cutting on the "high" side only.

It was a bit nerve racking, but it turned out really good.

The center vent is actually harder as the contours of the dash almost make it impossible to get a dremel tool in there.

I'll check back in tonight.

I have the dash center vent and outer vent templates, cut from an old junk AC dash, just hold up and scribe. The outers and center I cut with a jig saw, it was very easy, just use an extra long blade so you can maneuver the saw around and keep the blade in the cut.

I have a firewall template too its kind of large though.
If you don't know you install the inside box in the same holes as Non AC, then slide the outer over the studs, mark a couple holes. Part of the center firewall needs to be opened up, the opening does not have to match factory AC it just needs to not impede air flow.

I could send you my templates if you send me a deposit and cover shipping both ways.

I'm sorry, I posted in this thread thinking it was for the 60-66 forum but I do have an assembly manual for the 60-66 and will look in there. I didn't think about that, so thank you for the idea.

I thought I posted in the earlier truck forum...I do have the templates for 67-72 and you can borrow them. The firewall template is kind of large but I think I can fit it in a large flat rate box. Send $19 for services via PayPal, use the link in my signature line and make sure you put a note in there your borrowing the templates and I will send them out right away.

Randy, I do not need the firewall, only the interior dash center and left and right.
I will get back with you after the first of the year, right now I am to close to vacation time to get them back right away.
