Stepside fender and bed
Is there anything that goes between the fender and the bed? I really don't want to bolt fresh paint steel to steel !!! And where can I find it ?

There wasn't from the factory. It is steel on steel. I've seen people use welting between them in restorations though.

Fifties era Chevies/GMC's and Fords used welting. However the reproduction welting is difficult to make fit on the curves and it can hold moisture. Making sure your fenders flanges are flat (like you would with an oil pan) makes it easier to get the welting to look good when installed. Some contact cement helps too.
