'03 1500HD Key Fob Weirdness

The key fob on our '03 worked for about 4 days after we got it. I haven't messed with it yet because I've been busy. I tried to reprogram it, but it didn't take, so I figured the battery was dead. Was finally in town today, so I got a new battery. Got home, put the new battery in, reprogrammed it, and it locked and unlocked the doors a few times, then decided it didn't need to work anymore. What the heck? Do I need a new fob or am I missing something here?

Re: '03 1500HD Key Fob Weirdness

03 "up-level" LT trucks had problems with the programming in the PDM (passenger door module) This module handles keyless entry.

When the keyless entry doesnt work...Does the power window work on the passenger side.

Most 1500HDs are LTs, So im guessing yours is?

Yeah, it's an LT. The passenger window works when the key fob doesn't. I didn't realize these trucks had all these weird little gremlins!

These trucks are pretty good, If the window is working....The PDM is good.
Do you have a GM dealer near you?

Yeah, we do, but I hesitate to go there unless absolutely necessary. Plus, there's usually a week or so wait to get in. But, if I must, I must. The heated leather seat on the driver side quit working a while back, also, so maybe I should just take it in and get it all worked out.

The ONLY reason I mention the dealer is because you NEED a Tech II scan tool to diagnose this problem/s (In a timely manner).

I see. I called today and it would be end of next week before I can get it in. I'll probably talk myself out of spending the money to get it fixed by then. Thanks for the help!
