Online tires stores

I need new tires badly for Hank and I might as well get the wheels that I want also. Do you guys have any recommendations for online places to get them? Tire Rack has what I need for a $1000, but I want to look around a bit. I usually use Les Schwab here locally, but they can be pricey. Thanks.

Re: Online tires stores

I have used discounttiredirect several times and am very happy with their prices and service. Got new rims and 35's for the pickup, new tires for the wifes caddy and heat cycled drag radials for the fast car within the past couple of years.....

Re: Online tires stores

Do you have a Discount Tires near you? They are great and will price match anyone. Search your tire on eBay, they have good deals on there

Re: Online tires stores

Tirerack.com has always been my go-to Online tire store. Great selection and price plus quick shipping. Usually I come away saving about 100 bucks ordering online, paying shipping then paying a shop to mount and balance.

For me, it's worth the hassle to save that 100 bucks. YMMV.

More and more shops are price matching to some degree ( minus shipping ) so you may also find a deal there.

Re: Online tires stores

Discounttiredirect usually beats tirerack, especially if you're buying rims and having them mounted and balanced.

Re: Online tires stores

Thanks everyone! Discounttiredirect doesn't have the wheels that I want (AR62 OUTLAW II), neither did simple tire. Tirerack.com has exactly what I want, but for over $1000. I made an appointment at the local Discount Tire for this afternoon to see what they can offer me.

Re: Online tires stores

I go to Trackside Motorsports just across the I5 bridge in Kenton on Interstate Ave. I have also had good results from Bob Brown tires in Portland at 122nd and Sandy. I have used Tirrerack once with no issues. But getting that set mounted at Les Schwab was a mistake.
Just my two cents worth good luck.

I've used tirebuyer.com for the last two sets of tires and have been really happy and shipping is reasonable.

America's Tire (same company as Discounttiredirect) will price match, and most stores will order anything you want, whether it's on their website or not. Good luck, let us know how it goes!

Re: Online tires stores

what do you do if you have a problem with the tire. My brother bought tires on line and one had some sort of imbalance problem and was out of round. He could not get the vendor to compensate him beyond the replacement of the tire. No dis/mount or balancing or shipping costs.

Recently picked up a pair of 16.5 Firestone. Best price was Amazon.

I got my last set of tires for my 03 2500hd from amazon. 30 bucks less a tire than my local guy, plus no tax and two day delivery.

But to the OP, most places can order just about any wheel and tire combo you want by going through their various wholesale sources. Look for a custom, hot rod, off road shop etc close by, they have the dealer networks to get what you need and then you can deal directly with them if a wheel shows up scratched, or bent, or wont balance, if those are of concern for you. But as you've noticed, wheels and tires are expensive, especially for a brand you've heard of.

I went through a local discount tire store. They beat all the online prices I found, to include simpletire.com

Re: Online tires stores

So that ended up being a bit of an adventure. The day that I posted this I went to my local Discount Tire for a price comparison. Of course, I blew the tread off of the front passenger tire on the way there. Called insurance to send me a tow truck that took me to discount tire. Bought the wheels and tires from them for a bit under $1000, they have a solid military discount i discovered. But, the front drums had those rivets in there so I couldn't get the aluminum wheels on the front. They put the new tires back on my steelies (just the front) and I told them I would be back when I figured out out to deal with the rivets. SO I drove it with new wheels on back and steelies in front until this morning when I had the time to pull the front wheels off and grind the rivets down. Back to Discount Tire to finally get the new wheels put on the front. Take a look, I'm really happy with them. I also put in a pic of the rivets before I ground them down.

No wonder every one hates drums brakes. Luckily my rig came with the correct machine screws on all 4.

Re: Online tires stores

I had the same rivet problem on my truck when I put alloy wheels on. I just used grinder and got rid of them. But I also installed longer studs because it didn't seem like there was enough threads.
And as far as online tire stores, I have only used Tirerack. I ordered a tire and wheel set on July 4th and had it delivered from Indiana to Oregon 7 days later. They throw in lug nuts and centering rings along with the tires. And they can mount and balance them if you're buying wheels and tires at the same time. I'd use them again.

Re: Online tires stores

Check the vendors here.
I am one actualy and can do wheel, tires, or both as a package mounted and balanced. I buy direct from the manufacturers like the big guys do so my pricing is typically pretty competitive.

Buying tires from a board vendor has never crossed my mind. Good info, thanks!
