Re: Other Brand Trucks ????

Other brand trucks? Yes, I do believe there are some out there. Or so I've heard

My take on all that brand stuff is "I like what I like and it's ok for you to like what you like. And through the years foreign trucks were moving in on us I would add "At least it's American" to the Ford and Dodge guys. In my time there were also Studebaker and Internationals. In my beginnings I had no brand preference. I have had all but Ford, so I honestly have no experience with them to speak from. Way back when I decided I preferred Chevys because I liked pretty much everything they ever made and friends who were Chevy guys never complained about parts availability or interchangability. Then, when buying parts it would seem there was always someone bringing a part back saying it was the wrong part and the parts guy saying "That's what the book calls for. Here try thins one" and I never had that issue with Chevy parts.

So it was a practical decision for me as much as any other reason I went GM.Plus all the cool guys I knew drove Chevys and the Ford guys were jerks

But now that things in the world have changed so much and these year trucks are vintage occasional drivers mostly, I think I'd take sides with anything built back then over anything built now. It's great to not give a hoot what any of my friends would say if I brought home another brand. I have plenty to come back with to shut them up. I have always liked the looks of Ford, Dodge, IH trucks from the '70s-back. I'd honestly like to have one each in 3/4t 4wd from the 67-71 era (Dodge style changed in '72). Old trucks are cool!

Thanks Eric ,this truck is fresh off the farm . We got to get that topper off and clean it up good . It was last tagged in 2015 so hopefully we can get it running before we rehome it .

Re: Other Brand Trucks ????

C/10 King had a F100 once. So that makes it ok I like it. All the things a Chevy would go nuts over if it was their brand. I'd clear the system and run fresh fuel first attempt to crank over. Probably start right up or just need attention to the points if moisture got to them

My bad
I don’t know the first thing about fords
But, I too like all cars and trucks
(But only own chevy trucks)
I bet all cleaned up, and original as it is
A real Ford guy of that vintage will scarf that one up

Re: Other Brand Trucks ????

I’d probably even put the topper back on after it was all cleaned up
And take a picture, of that also
If it is the correct vintage
That will also be worth something to the right buyer
Anything that you don’t see anymore on a regular basis
Seems to become desirable ! ?

Re: Other Brand Trucks ????

Chevy 4wds didn't come with hubcaps either, till '69 and only the chrome ones as far as I know. The way I remember back in the day was trucks that had wide wheels on put on ran open wheel. I don't remember seeing any running caps. I like the look, personally.

Re: Other Brand Trucks ????

I think the reason so many nice 3/4t hubcaps have been available after all these years is because the ones left on got trashed and the rest were removed right away. I remember the old timers having no use for power steering, automatic transmission, trim, or any of all that "fancy stuff". Takes a man to drive a truck. Gotta have armstrong!

The catch phrase with the ole boys I hear all the time, and I tend to agree with them on most, is "You don't need all that" or "You don't need to do all that. All you need to do is just..."

Re: Other Brand Trucks ????

That one is particularly nice. Truck itself is Custom Cab, V8/4spd, chrome grille, probably other options. Then there's the wheels and Luverne grille guard. That green paint is about as traditional and truck handsome as it gets. All makers had this color in their own mix. It's probably the oldest color other than black. The fleet green color, same as 505 is for GMs.

This '66 F250 is always at the Tri-State Antique Truck Show we have in Sapet

If it is a V-8 and original it is probably a 352 ci, they were an FE block same as the 390.

Check around the coil mounting bolts and the front of left valve cover, sometimes the original metal tag is still bolted there and will have engine size stamped on it

Yeah, the 360 and 390 didn't come in these until 1968 according to Wikipedia so you have the 208 Gross HP 352.
