Re: Took A Little Ride Last Weekend

Down in the valley, just above Rileyville I thought I'd get a few shots of the valley...and the truck!

Re: Took A Little Ride Last Weekend

Rileyville has one of the smallest post offices in the USA (smallest?). There's no room for a toilet. They had to put a porta-potty in a while back to get with modern health standards...although a quick walk to the church was good enough all these years. I stopped by to send off these mint 3/4t Chevy hubcaps to Kevin in Utah, but not open yet

Re: Took A Little Ride Last Weekend

I'm sorry this time out I didn't grab real good pictures. Batteries oofed up on me, plus I was hustling to get down to Front Royal. I was hoping to get by Bill Athey's on Saturday, but that will have to be another time. I went right by his road going down and back. He sometimes comes to this show, but didn't see him this time

My friend Chuck going back over a local fleet truck's lettering, for the driver. He offered to add some stripe, "Oh no, they wouldn't go for that!".

Re: Took A Little Ride Last Weekend

It was a good time. It's name says it all. There's really four states involved, VA, WVA, PA, & MD. The chapters are from MD, VA, & PA, but WVA is just a handful of miles up rt11. Eastern WVA people would be in the Shenandoah Chapter.

It's funny for you western folk, or any large state, but i think it's about 75 miles away. I drive from MD over the Potomac R. into VA a couple miles till hwy crosses the WVA state line. Along the Shenandoah R. Harpers Ferry's to the right across the river. Over the river and on through Charles Town*, keep going straight west on WVA51 to Inwood @ US11. It's on down the pike and into VA, not far to the show. US11 and I-81 thread through all these states. Kind of splits PA by east and west

Nice pics
I like the one with the guy trying
To eat snow, with the snow blower😀
We all post over and over on here,
Talk back and forth
And rarely, even know who is on the other end
It's cool when you can put an image in your mind
With the name
Even cooler when you can meet in person
As always
Thanks for the good posts,

Re: Took A Little Ride Last Weekend

I'm lucky yo be alive after that mishap. How could I know the guy was about to give a demonstration? Good thing I have a hard head and stalled that tiny motor out on the back that drives the snow blower.

I know what you mean. Most people here I can get a pretty good idea of what they are like in person from reading their posts (but I'm actually too slick to get eaten by machinery. That was actually staged and my life was never in peril...thought you should know). I'm sure we could have a great time together if we ever meet.

Loaded up Wed morning and headed up to Carlisle for the swap meet.

Got up there and set up shop. Boy it was hot. You never know with this show. Last two years were total wash outs. This year not a drop in sight for weeks. I just slung a tarp over the ladder racks and an air mattress in the bed for an instant camper

Re: Took A Little Ride Last Weekend

Not much action that late in the day, so we strolled the grounds on the hunt. Mostly just met with friends and chatted between slurps since most vendors had covered up for the day. Time for dinner and the ritual first night is eat at El Rodeo (That's The Rodeo for those who only know English). Great food, lots of variety...and it was $1.99 margaritas night, so we split one for a buck each . Sorry, no pictures of the restaurant, food, waitress, margaritas, etc.

Here are a few things we saw. Arizona Steve:

Re: Took A Little Ride Last Weekend

I didn't see it go. I guess there are auction results listed somewhere. I'm curious, too. I'll have to check into that. It's a pretty basic truck with nice looking options. It had a 307/3spd, no A/C. How does this happen, is what I always wonder.

I almost forgot my favorite. My first truck was an Ochre '72 SWB Highlander. This one brought back some nostalgic feelings

Re: Took A Little Ride Last Weekend

Last pictures of the weekend. Nice Panhead. Cool plaque I couldn't afford. My next door neighbor had all these sign letters. I was looking from across the row and arranged them like that. He liked it, got him a lot of attention. My big treasure I found. And another neighbor's (across) RV, a Superior Coach Supertoy. Very nice!

Great pics, I thought you hated the word "trendy" . Eric would have loved the plaque if the price was right. I love the pan heads but I don't weigh enough to kick them over but...if you want ever want to sell the treasure I want to be first in line.

Re: Took A Little Ride Last Weekend

I thought of Eric instantly, along with the impulse to buy it for him. I saw that the first evening when I only had the $100 I brought with me, and that's how much it was. I have a thing where I don't let myself buy anything till I sold that much. Plus, a man's got to eat!

I gave that treasure to my buddy I was up there with. He was generous enough to let me on one of his spots so I thought he should have it. He's the guy with my old blue & white K/20, which has those emblems and a 400 SBC.

You know about me and following trends. But this is about serious marketing strategies . If they were my letters it would have said "DENT" and there would be an "R" and a "Y" layin' around somewhere on the other side of the truck

It didn't go. I was back a few days and Wed morning a buddy called and offered me to come up to the fall Hershey meet. I saw it up there with $21,500 on it. Don't know if it sold, but there was a beautiful gold & white original/original owner '79 Blazer I saw at Carlisle that was in the Hershey corral with $38k on it and it had a sold sign on it. Not saying it went for asking price, but you know what I'm saying... DANG! Lots of Europeans there looking to buy.

The show is huge. I don't know what the biggest swap meet or swap meet/show is, but this one has to be up there. It's the big mother! It began in '55 I believe.
