One Year Only Stuff 67-72...

It seems like GM made styling and mechanical changes every 2-3 model years,
but what are some interesting one-year-only options and parts in the 67-72's?

This is just to make an interesting discussion...

Some of the ones we have so far include:

1967- fenders and bedsides without side markers
1972- plaid interiors, new door panels
1967- exterior door handles
1967- GMC grille and emblems
1970- factory saddle tank
1969- inner grille
1967- cigarette lighter, ignition bezel, vent window handles
1967- small back window, interior paint could be different from exterior paint
1972- rear view mirror on the windshield, associated changes with the cab roof above the windshield
1972- screws at base of wing window frames
1967- ridged knobs, inside door handles, crank handles
1967- glovebox door texture same as gauge cluster bezel
1967- fold forward seat, vent window assembly
1967- ashtray, horn button
1968- horn button
1970- dark bronze paint

One that comes to mind is the 1967 GMC grille and emblems.

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...

To expound on Tinker's post I think it's exterior door handles on 67. Cigarette lighter on 67, ignition bezel on 67, and vent windows handles on 67. In 67 the interior paint wasn't necessarily the same color as the exterior paint.

Inner roof between sunvisors smooth on 72 after they moved rear view mirror.....often thought that was peculiar for them to retool that metal for 1 year only subject to next years total body change.......72 only they put screw in door for vent window...finally took care of 6 year rattle!...jim

With 72, I believe the interior door panels are also a single year along with the window regulators and handles.

Probably the easiest way to see what is single year stuff though, is just to look in a catalog, because after a couple of pages of this thread, people aren't going to be able to keep track of the posts in here anyway.

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...

67 has ridges on the knobs like a quarter. 1 year only
Also inside door handles and window crank handles are different.
Texture on the glove box door like a guage cluster on a 67
Fold foward seats on a 67
No hole for the knob on vent windows on a 67. So vent window assys are 1 year only. Vent handles were used on 64-67.
Ashtray is one year only on a 67
I love showin off

Horn button on 67 one year only.

Even Though the 67 is the new body style, many things are a hold over the 66 body style. Like the fold down seat

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...

71 only had a raised area on the inner roof panel where the rear view mirror bolted to the roof. 67-70 were flat where the rear view mirror bolted to the roof, and 72 the rear view mirror was attached to the windshield.

Not 100% sure on this, but maybe someone can chime in, Navy Blue and Maroon interior colors were 69 CST only...

I have a 1969 C10 that was issued to the US Navy, it came with the Navy Blue interior. The Navy was cheap, my truck was ordered very basic, the radio delete panel is pretty cool though.

I don't know why it wasn't a more popular option... I really like the color. Its way better than that lighter blue that's for sure.

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...

I don't think anyone mentioned the vertical "bars" in the 1970 grill insert. I think there are 5. Not sure how this was accomplished but I would guess they painted the insert except for the darker "bars". The '69 grill insert was a solid color. I think the insert in mine is a repop but the area that should be darker is inset about a 1/32". My brother bought a new '69 and a couple months later I bought a new '70. Parked side by side the difference was quite noticeable. I drove a lot of miles with him in my rear view mirror. I'd be interested to see some pictures and to hear how guys have accomplished this.

I have been told that the 70 inner grille is not reproduced, only the 69 style without the recessed areas.

Maybe the OP can start listing these in the first post to keep track of them.

Re: One Year Only Stuff 67-72...

I could be wrong but door handles were the same except for 67 which can accept other years

72 yes door panels and arm rests are different as well as windshield mounted mirror. Not sure on window regulators I think they are the same through tout the generation
