New to the game

Hi, my name is Sam out of Port Orchard Washington. Been waiting for a month to get in here, paid the 25$ and here I am. I just recently purchased a 68 c20 for 700$...been staring at it for 5 yrs! I’ve always wanted to own a truck I can modify myself and take pride in. I have been a welder/fabricator in ship repair for 23 yrs so I can modify/move most of the applications I’ve been reading about, of course with some guidance on know-how. I decided I want a cruisin truck(go 20 to 10)so my plans are to disc all around(got a 80 c10 front crossmember I plan to swap), drop, chop, shave, patina/paint, shorten...you get the picture. Lots of rust so I’ll be cutting, patching, welding and blending a lot. I’ve done a lot of research in the past 6 months, watched a ton of YouTube vids but I’ll definitely be asking more questions. Happy to be here...hope the purists don’t tear me apart! I’ll do my best to post pics as much as I can!

Re: New to the game

Welcome, how about a photo or 2?
Don’t worry about purists or anyone else, do what you want. there will always be strong opinions and suggestions but in the end there are infinite possible things to do with our trucks and nobody here judges what anyone else ends up doing (or at least they shouldn’t!)

Re: New to the game

Think I got it figured.....so this is a before and after. It sat for 8 yrs under a willow tree because they lost the keys. I just bought a new ignition, slid it in, new battery and It turns over, I just didn’t put any gas because it was really dirty in the tank (I removed it and tried to flush it) and I didn’t want that in my lines, plan to relocate an aluminum tank to the rear anyway. So far all I’ve done is wash it, ignition and battery.

Re: New to the game

Welcome from the Yakima Valley. It's amazing what some soap and water and elbow grease can do with an old truck.

Hopefully I'll make it to Port Orchard on my boat later this year.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
