Re: Blazer sliding window

Here's an excerpt from the install instructs that shows one top style needs to be trimmed (style #1) to accept the slider but suggests the OEM gasket is re-used for both types. Which type of top has the glass in-line with the fiberglass (style #2) and which has the glass offset as shown in the diagram? I think it's a double wall that needs to be cut.

Either way these instructs show differing gasket styles that I assume represent single vs. double wall tops.

Re: Blazer sliding window

I definitely like the single slider much better than the double. Looks a lot cleaner to me. Nice blazer guana.

I like the single slider as well. I may have to get mine done this way.

Re: Blazer sliding window

The 73 sliders do fit I've seen them in 69-72 blazers I have a set in my garage I was planning to use but never got around to it. Don't know if I ever will really. I just bought that STC fast trac top that was posted a few days ago... Anyone need a double wall top pm me.

Re: Blazer sliding window

There is no way 73 and up windows fit in a 69-72 top without significant modification to one or both. But I will wait for pictures....

Re: Blazer sliding window

As I did say I do have a pair but I never installed them. I did take a measurement they are the same size . That's as far as I got . They been sitting in the garage. Maybe they fit only a double wall or single wall I just don't know . I do know I have seen several 69-72 Blazers online and on this site with this style window. Just don't know what's all involved in installing them . I think I would just go to safe-lite auto glass and ask

That is a picture of member Guana's Blazer from earlier in this thread. He didn't mention that they were 73+ sliders installed in a 69-72 top, and I don't think they are. It would be like putting a square peg in a round hole. overall measurement might be similar, but the shape is different.

Re: Blazer sliding window

If that style slider window is a 69-72 in Guan's Blazer that would really surprise me. As I was told the 69-72 slider window was a two sliding combo. Yes that is Guana' blazer in the photo. But I don't think it's the 69-72 blazer slider he's using. I've seen photo ads with the double combo. But again never got to far on my window switch out. Maybe they did make two style sliding window. Another member says they do fit with some trim work. The square peg and round hole would sure be a lot more trim work... However the shape appeared the same last Time I held it up to my 72 window. I think Guana need to get into this post. I'd love to hear what he has to say about the slider he has.

Re: Blazer sliding window

Pretty sure the 73 up windows are a couple inches bigger all around. There'd be a pretty good amount of trimming and glass work to make it fit and look right.

Re: Blazer sliding window

I would think of it was as simple as picking up some sliding windows from a 73 up anyone wanting the sliders would do it. I have owned both years and am pretty sure the 73 up are larger. Wouldn't the solid windows interchange if they were the same size?

Re: Blazer sliding window

Finally got a set in use. The double pane slider frame is thinner where it inserts into the gasket groove than the single pane examples much like the difference between single vs double wall glass (single wall thinner). Therefore, I went with these 2x pane examples to ease installation into the 1x wall top. That said, these replaced the thicker double pane glass that I had installed into the single wall top and that worked so I suspect a single pane slider would also without trimming the top.

Re: Blazer sliding window

Nice. Mine are still sitting in storage waiting for the day. I have two single wall tops now so I’m going to restore the best one and keep the other for a spare. I’m still working on my ls3 install so it will probably be next year before I get to it.

Re: Blazer sliding window

I want a set! If a set of the single slider that fit the 69-72 Blazers came available I would be all over them but think that even the double sliders would be good.

If anyone has a lead on a set, either style, let me know!
