Relocate gas tank

Guys I am wanting to relocate my gas tank from inside the cab to the rear of the truck between the frame rails. I know that this has probably been discussed but I hardly have enough time to enjoy all the info on here so I was hoping some of you guys could repost or help me with this project. I am looking to do this as easy as possible. I would like to get as big of a tank as possible but don't want it hanging down. Is there any kits for this? I have also seen a couple of pics where people made the rear marker lights in the bed a filler door to hide it instead of putting filler neck in bed of floor. Look forward to your input. Here is a pic of my truck. Its a 72 with a 68 clip.

Good lookin' truck. I like the stance that it has. What drop/tire/wheel combo are you running? I can't help with the tank answers but am interested to hear as well. I'm planning on doing a tank relocate on my '72.

I just got done putting a 69 Camaro gas tank in my truck. There's a thread here on this forum that I followed. Check it out.

Re: Relocate gas tank

I used this tank from Brothers, mounted it between frame rails where my original spare tire was hanging. I looked for a underbed tank kit, but no luck. LMC Truck has the Blazer tank with brackets, but not a complete kit. Plan on doing your own fab work for the gas filler.

Thanks for the compliment. It is a 4/6 with a notch in back. I am running 20's all around 8.5 wide wheels in front and 9.5/10's in back. Can't remember tire size.

Re: Relocate gas tank

I installed a 88 blazer tank in my 71 but mine is a LWB so not sure if that will work in a SWB but it may. I am working on my tail light filler. I don't want to have the filler too deep in the body work to I am using LED tail lights to free up some room behind the tail light.
