Kick panel vent????
I was noticing today on the way to my night job that the vent on the drivers side has a manual pull knob. The pass. side didn't though. Instead it was connected to what looked like a vacuum valve and the hose runs up behind the glove box. Any explaination would be appreciated. How do I open that vent? Thanks

Someplace here a few weeks back somebody posted a vacuum "circuit diagram" if you will, that showed what positions of your heater controls did what with the vacuum switch that controls all of that.

Tynee,
I just looked in my factory service manual, It's not clear what it's for. I'm guessing, somthing to do with Air Conditioning. Does your truck have air? Darren

The kickpanel vent works in connection with the one under the cowl. When in fan, heat or outside air for A/C that vent will remain closed and the cowl vent open for fresh air. When recirc mode in A/C is selected the kickpanel will open and the cowl will close allowing the system to draw air from there. There is no manual operation available of the right vent on A/C equiped trucks.

If you wanted to, you could unbolt the vacuum operated vent door, and bolt a manual slide operated one in it's place. (I did, and my other 1/2 was much happier on road trips). I have a spare if you're interested.
