Anyway, here are more pics:

I am back with MORE progress pics....finished up the FatMat last week...and started on the harness today. The shop wall took longer than expected, and we are 80% organized, so I was able to get back on the Vette...Check it out !!!

Coming along dude! I actually enjoy wiring. A nice harness makes a big difference and is worth the extra dough every time.

I hear you on the wiring....I have wired many rides for people, and made good money doing it. People have some kind of "fear" when it comes to wiring..but I enjoy it as well.

At this point I ended up diassembling, and 'rebuilding' the heater box. When I drilled out the rivets and removed the cover, I realized the flap seals were still soft and in good shape, but they were replaced anyway.

Re: PROJECT "Z069" - LS7 powered '69 Stingray....

My next step was to rebuild the heater box and pedal assemblies. The kit from ZIP came with all the seals, gaskets, and aluminum rivets for the heater box.....and of course a new core:

-

-

-

-

-

-
Old Core:
-

-

-

-
Internal flapper seal glue and clamped overnight:

The core retainer clip was broken, so instead of waiting for UPS, I turned my MIG down reaallllly low and tacked it back together:

All sealed and riveted back together:
-

-
Back in car..temporarily held with wingnuts....might have to modify the cover to clear the engine:

chief, in this pic, are you putting a heat shield over the starter or is that plenty of room to not have to worry about it???

Re: PROJECT "Z069" - LS7 powered '69 Stingray....

Glad you brought that up....

The entire exhaust system will be removed and sent out for Jet-Hot coating. This will slightly reduce some temps....but to answer your question, Yes in certain spots I will be using some insulators. Near the starter will be one, in the back near the fuel lines, etc.

I might relocate the regulator as well.

I think the starter would be fine...these newer starters are more forgiving that the old school ones....but just for fun, I'll do it anyway.

Where did you get the fat mat?? Is it expensive or fair priced?

Re: PROJECT "Z069" - LS7 powered '69 Stingray....

OK...it's been a while, so I'm back with a little more progress.

When I left off, I mentioned we had a problem with the B-Cool radiator.(or mabey I didn't mention) The passenger side key-stocks were welded to the radiator 3/8" off. This prevented the radiator from dropping into the lower mount and the top mount from sliding on.

A call to B-Cool, got the radiator picked up from my shop by UPS the next day. It was about a 2 1/2 week turn-around...not too bad. They moved the mounts over, repolished, and sent it back.

I mentioned to pops to keep it raw, but he insisted on it being polished.

Nice looking rad, though !!

If yoou wondered why my pics are so $hitty...this is what I'm using...nice shine though !!

In addition to the radiator....we had the Oil tank and the Borla mufflers fully pollished. The mufflers we'll see later. Here's the tank pics:

The polishing was about 2 weeks out, so I got some other things done...like finally put on the last two fittings....

We had ordered larger front and rear sway-bars...and had them coated silver for a little more contrast.

After receiving them from the coaters, silly me realized I CANNOT run the rear bar due to the fact where I installed the fuel system. Now I have a brand new, coated rear bar kit...FOR SALE !! (as well as the stock, coated front bar, with prothane links)

The radiator and fans are in. I had to trim the top fan mount a little, to get it to slide over to the passenger side. It was right up against the a-arm washer...and there no shims in it yet !!! So hopefully, it'll clear when alignment time comes...

When we first picked up the car, the master was changed...so its been sitting on the shelf.....so I bead-blasted it and just painted it a "sand-blasted metal look" color....

Put the rear on stands, removed the wheels and bled the entire system...
