I installed a Vintage Air system in my 72 about 4 years ago.... it was a Sure Fit system designed specifically for our trucks... my truck was not originally equipped with A/C but the kit came with templates to cut the holes in the dash for the factory style vents.

It uses R134 refrigerant and keeps the cab very cool.... I don't have any complaints about the system. I've also heard that Old Air Products makes a good system for these trucks as well.
