So is putting a cab paint divider difficult when a cab didn't have one originally?

I still need to come up with one. It seems like they had some sort of spot welded mounting point thingies. Do you have to mount them this way or could a person use some sort of sticky back tape?

Interested in seeing how you have gone about this if you started with none originally.

There are small nylon clips that slide onto those studs. If your truck doesnt have the studs why not just use small screws to anchor the clips?
Prob need a #6 x 3/8". I can't recall if that part of the cab is double walled or not. I'll check.

We installed a kit from LMC (I think) that came with the stainless trim, the plastic clips and tiny screws that need to be installed. After careful measuring we pulled a straight tape line and drilled the holes and put in the screws. Iit was a pretty simple installation, and really worked great.

Yep. That's what you need. That's cool they sell them with screws. Once the clips are on the trim just snaps on. Little pressure with palm of hand and trim snaps right in place.

Ok, thanks guys. Just need to source an OEM set of moldings. I prefer using OEM whenever possible. May end up having to go with aftermarkets, we'll see =)

The original mounting tits were spot welded on at the factory, and as has been mentioned, the nylon clips were used. If you use screws, make sure that you seal them somehow, so that any water that gets on them is repelled, as they will eventually let the body rust. Not a problem where I live here, in an irrigated desert.

Well we might get a teensy bit of rain up here in Washington State, so if this ends up happening Ill take your advice for sure.

I did not want to deal with the possibility of the screws leaking, and I wanted something different, so I had the trim airbrushed.....

Most good body shops have a stud welding gun ( Used for pulling dents and such ) and can spot weld the tabs on just like the originals.

The easiest way to install them is to position the trim and use multiple peices of masking tape . Once your happy with the position use a sharpened grease pencil / china marker , mark the top and bottom of the trim , remove the trim and center - mark and drill the holes for the clips and install the clips using pop rivits put the clip on the pop rivit and then position correctly and pop the rivit clip combination onto the truck ., They won't leak but you can dab a small amount of sealer to each hole if wanted .install the trim onto the clips top edge first and with a glancing palm strike snap the lower edge on . don't try to slide the trim onto the clips you'll take a chance of scratching your paint doing it that way . when removing factory install chrome divider using a non-marring tool pop the out side end of the trim off the clips and then slide the trim off by pulling to the outside of the truck . it's easy , it works and is also a repair option if you decide to install the screw type studs and strip out the holes .
