Re: Mono jet Carb Help

I'm running an automatic choke and have deleted the evap, I also had transmission controlled spark. This may or may not help. Here's some pics, good luck!Name: image.jpg

Re: Mono jet Carb Help

I have the exact same carb but I have manual choke. I intend to hook up the evaporation lines though.

As soon as I get mine back on (this week?) I'll send you some pics.

Re: Mono jet Carb Help

Your carb has the same numbers as mine on the side but the more I look at it the more I see differences. I can't tell in the pic where your choke rod goes so I dunno about that, I also don't see a hose for a vacuum advance so if you running one you need that. I also don't see your throttle linkage. Maybe its different than mine but I tried to show it in the last pic, it's kinda dark, and upside down, but it's there. You don't need the solenoid in the rear, you have a set screw.

Re: Mono jet Carb Help

I recently rebuilt the monojet on my 1968 C1500 GMC truck. It has a manual choke. Is there an automatic choke kit available to covert it? On my carburator the fuel line enters from the bottom front. I don't have the carburator number on hand at the moment.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Mono jet Carb Help

I'm sorry but I'm a novice. Our carbs do look the same but indeed different. My throttle cable is the one that is the screw type. (1970). My dash doesnt have the choke option/Pull tab. What does this mean? Manual or auto. Should I just plug all the open ports that the hook on top of my light is pointing at? Do any of you guys know if the 1490 air fliter is comparable with anything at oreillys or autozone? Cant find 1490 anywhere

Re: Mono jet Carb Help

I got my mr gasket 1490 off of ebay. Yes plug all the ports that aren't used but you may need one for a vacuum advance on your distributor. If you can show me a pic of your distributor I'll tell you if you have a vacuum advance.

Re: Mono jet Carb Help

Ok cool, that is a vacuum advance. Looks like that rod on the front of your carb is for an automatic choke, should lead to a metal coil on your intake manifold.

Re: Mono jet Carb Help

Just noticed a vacuum hose running to your intake manifold. You have power brakes! Now I understand why to wanted a 1490! Okay man, plug those unused ports and fire that bad boy up!

Re: Mono jet Carb Help

Man somebody has really nickle and dimed your truck I think, why is there a red wire running to your engine block? That should be black, as long as it goes to the negative battery terminal it's fine, just want to make sure your running ground and not power to the block lol. Stranger things have happened! Good luck getting it going man!

Re: Mono jet Carb Help

That is my air cleaner and I do have that line that is not connected to anything. It's just hanging below my air cleaner. Not sure what it goes to. I just recently purchased the truck and am trying to get all of the lose ends (no pun intended) squared away. I do have a vacuum port on the carb that has a cap plug on it.

Re: Mono jet Carb Help

When I purchased it. The truck didnt come with air box and filter. So aftermarket is the way I have to go not having any luck finding the one like you have shown in the last pic. I've added a breather oil cap on the side port since I dont hve the correct airbox and yes Ive added the disk brakes.

Re: Mono jet Carb Help

Thats a good ? about the battery cables. I noticed that as well but this is my 2nd c10 and my 63 was like that as well. My 1st truck the PO really did a number on that one but ws still a good truck. My current truck was non molested as far as I can tell. Good eye and thanks for your help by the way.

The air cleaner in the pic wouldn't fit anyway becāuse you have a brake booster. I'd just keep searching ebay for the mr gasket 1490. I think mine was about 15 bucks.
