OEM Center Console "spacer"??? Is this stock? !! PICS !!

I've recently seen photos of a center console spacer that looks to be stock, but it's something I'd never seen before. A few other experienced folks I know don't recognize it either.

It's a 1-13/16" tall spacer that goes under the rear mounts of the center console to lift it off the floor and presumably make the console more level...

Here are the pics:

It has the correct "pebble texture" finish on it, so it looks like a factory produced part. But there is no reference to it in the Factory Assembly Manual where it shows the center console installation.

Could this be a part from a later model Blazer, that was inadvertently used in a 1st Gen console....or is there some other reason that this part is there???

I keep wondering how this could be a normal part, when I've never seen one until now, and most of the people I've shown it to don't recognize it either. I figure I'll post the photos here.....if anyone would know the true origins of this part, it's the fanatics of the 67-72 Board!!!!

Thanks All!

Mine doesn't have it. First time I saw one of those was about 2 minutes ago in your build thread.

I've never seen anything like that. But it sure looks like it could be a factory piece.
I don't believe that is a first gen console. They didn't have cupholders, or least my factory one doesn't. The 71-72 may have I'm not sure.

Oh yeah, to clarify it IS a later model console (cupholders vs. rectangular seatbelt pockets). I have two consoles for my '72. A cupholder style, and a seatbelt pocket style....dimensionally, they both seem identical but the cupholder is more useful than the early style IMHO.

That shouldn't change the necessity for this spacer as far as I can tell.... but I'm still perplexed.

your in the elite club with Burt and Kurt...Speaking of Burt, wonder if his wife had the baby

No idea on the spacer, but someone made it pretty nice. Grain doesn't seem to match. I'd be wary of the angle of the front mounts, could pull them thru

That bracket is not used on 69-72 blazers. I'm parting out an 1980 2wd blazer and yesterday I removed the console and it had that bracket.

Re: OEM Center Console "spacer"??? Is this stock? !! PICS !!

For reference, I'm the guy with the spacer. It came along with the 73+ console I bought separately from the truck. It has a marking on the back that says:

Chevy - PN 470747 M

It's molded in the same blue colored plastic as the console, but both were painted black by the previous owner. I'll keep digging around for the reason it's used.

As stated above, it was used on '73 and up trucks. They used the same console as '69 - '72, but the floor pan does not have the ridge like the older body style.

So the spacer is designed to be used on the FRONT mounting holes....and not the rear holes?

Interesting.

Correct - rear. The '69 - '72 Blazer floor has a ridge where the rear of the console sits. The floor in the '73 model is flat. GM was cheap and did not change the design/tooling of the console for '73 so they needed to add that spacer to make the console sit level in the newer trucks.
