Re: 69 crew duramax build

Plan on at least $10k for good paint with limited bodywork. Most of the bodywork was done to mine before painter got it. My paint materials were over $2500

Re: 69 crew duramax build

Front door glass and power window kits went in today. Probably going to need new glass cut for back doors since the shapes changed too much to reuse. Headliner also has been built and installed but still need to get it recovered

Re: 69 crew duramax build

So my bed wood showed up today and now I need to decide how to finish it. I have read the mar-k test info and I'm leaning toward a different direction than their top recommendations. Does anyone have experience with a high quality exterior oil based in protected stain for decks. I'm thinking since this truck is not just for looks I know it will get dinged up. Therefore if I use the stain I can easily touch up and add more later. Im afraid the other varnish style finishes will be a headache later on to repair. Thoughts?

Re: 69 crew duramax build

That's really not far from the truth about being hers. I sold her car last week and haven't bought another yet so she says until she gets a new ride she is taking mine....

Very nice! That turned out awesome! That was a fast build time too! Congrats! How do you think you'll like your mirrors when towing a large trailer?

Re: 69 crew duramax build

The poppers are pretty nice so far. They don't always pop first try since the rubbers are still so stiff.

I sold it to a friends son who is fixing it up for when he turns 16. He found another bed for it and has been working on it in spare time

Re: 69 crew duramax build

Well time to make a few additional upgrades. Mainly SOUND !!! I need additional speakers for stereo. Does anyone have kickpanel speakers they can take several pictures and measurements of? What about where gas tank used to be, anyone have good system installed there?
