Seat help... what am I missing?

Hey guys, a little newby help... with time constraints with kids and life, I've been tinkering on my build for over a year now. I just got my seat back from upholstery and I cant get it to stay upright? Its a fixed bench seat out of a mid 90's chev truck, I believe a 1996 ish.

There are two bolts on the hinge. One is a regular bolt that looks like a pivot, the other is a torx. I've tried tightening both...

What am I missing?

Best bet is to find a stock late model with a similar seat and see how the latch works and figure out what you are missing. I'd think the latch got left off at some time in the process.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Thanks for the reply, I actually pulled the seat my self. It was from a base model truck with vinyl floors, hand crank windows, etc. If I recall, the seat was "fixed" and there wasnt a latch.

I have a similar seat early 90s and there is no latch. mine will tilt forward like second picture to get behind seat. does not lock in upright position.

Can't help you with the seat, but that's a nice looking truck! Maybe a build page with some more details...

Uh.... Call the upholstery shop. You just paid for them to redo it right? Pretty sure they should be able to answer the question.

Re: Seat help... what am I missing?

starterman99: Thanks! could be the case, but it sure seems like it was fixed???

iowaboynca: I have about 100 pics throughout the build. but my biggest peeve is a build thread that spreads across a year. once i'm more or less finished i'll get one posted, start to finish

rambow: youre right, that was the first call i made before i posted the thread. they were helpless, and will attempt upholestry myself before taking any more business to them
