Question '92 Jimmy 4X Button not workin'

Hi all, new to the board so be gentle Well anyway, I recently bought a '92 Jimmy 4X4 and now it's a 4x2! I have the one with the push button for the 4Hi & 4Lo right above the light switch. I'm not sure what this system was called but that's what I've got. Is this a common thing? Do you think I'm dealing with something electrical or mechanical and how common is this? By the way, when I try to activate it, nothing happens in drive. When I'm in N, then the lights on the button flash and a clicking comes from the glovebox area. The lights flash and tick three times then nothing. If someone out there knows what's going on, I would be much obliged.

gm (cool initials, no?)

I have a 93 Blazer with the push-button 4WD. A couple of years ago I had to have the motor replaced that does the actual switching into 4WD.

I don't know much about it other than it is a pretty expensive part to replace. At the time I had a shop to it and I believe it was $400 to $500 dollars.

Good luck.

That is the most common problem with those systems. The motor that does the actual shifting of the transfer case.
