Mechanical to hydraulic clutch

Does anyone know the differences between the mechanical clutch pedal assembly and the hydraulic pedal assembly? Can the mechanical pedal be changed to hydraulic?

What vehicle are you going to try and do this to ? 87 jeep ? 87 dually ?

I'd be asking about the Jeep over on the Jeep forums. Can't really ask specifically about the R30 as they came with a hydraulic from the factory. Want to convert R30 to stick but can only find mechanical clutch pedal assemblies from the early 80's trucks. So I'm wanting to know of the early 80's Chevy truck mechanical clutch pedal assembly can be converted to work with the hydraulic clutch setup.

I'm currently converting my 85 k20 from auto to stick with the hydraulic setup. I feel your pain, it took me a year to gather the parts. It will not be worth your time to try to make them work. Are you using hydro-boost or vac? I have a set of pedals for vacuum if your interested.

I think the only difference between the two lies in the mounting bracket- one uses all four studs; the other only two. I can lay them side be side and post pics if you give me a day or two. I'm having my machist buddy modify the set I'm putting in my truck. Replacing the cheesy factory bushings and installing roller bearings or full length nylon bushings with polished/hardened sleeves. I don't ever want to have to deal with them wearing out in the future. Also modified the clutch rod with a chromoly rod end and new hardened stud on the pedal arm. Overkill? Maybe, but do once and be done with it!

A few pics I found on my phone on how I cut off the worn out clutch rod and tack welded a female rod end on it. This fix ought to last my lifetime. Lol

I made a mechanical set of pedals work with a hydraulic master. It isn't a factory one or mounted in the factory location. But you can make the pedals work with a factory one you just might have to extend the pushrod or ad a plate for a mounting point to the pedal.

I usually see plenty of factory hydraulic pedal assemblies on ebay....just be prepared to spend $300 plus on one. That being said, I have converted the mech pedals in a '72 chevy to hydro purely by just measuring the throw needed to max out the master cylinder. Measure the amount needed in your master, then move down from the pivot point on the pedal until the pedal gives you the same throw from top of travel to bottom of travel at firewall.
