Mysteries of Life
In trouble again, just delayed 55 years. Here is the story.
Let me first tell you, I’m OLD, been MARRIED 48+ years. In preparation for that day when we can’t, Kitty and I have started cleaning out the attic, garage, closets, under the bed, etc. You know, the places one puts all that worthless stuff one accumulates over a life time that one might need, or want, someday. (but never will!) While doing so, Kitty found a box containing items of mine that predates our marriage. Stuff that would date back 55/56 years to approximately my 9th grade year of school. My first question was; Why would I have kept the items? And, second; How did those items make their way to our house? Kitty found a photo of a VERY ATTRACTIVE young lady among the items. Her first question was; Who is Rachel? The sentiment written on the back of the photo ending with “Love Rachel” suggest she was someone I should know, (and remember) but as much as it pains me, I have no clue as to who Rachel is or where I met her. Gosh, I wish I did, Rachel looks good enough to still be BRAGGING about! Of course, Kitty is not buying my story, nor am I, but I don’t have a better story. Does anyone know Rachel? Shorty |

Re: Mysteries of Life
I can't believe you forgot Rachael. It's probably the trauma caused by her dumping you for the world renowned brain surgeon. They first move up around KC and later to Mayo Clinic. They had a place in Cabo and France and took frequent trips to Hawaii, until she caught him with that nurse. Now all that is hers along with a sizable alimony payment.
Now she has a different young arm trinket every month and spends most of her time wondering if you ever found the picture and thinks "How do you like me now".

Re: Mysteries of Life
Find a picture of an "older" woman who looks worse for wear than your wife ever could imagine about 40 years ago, show her that, tell her this is a more recent picture from 20 years later, but all you remember is something about a woman obsessed with you that you kept telling there will only ever be one for you and it's not her. That must be her.
I remember the girls, just don't remember where the pictures are.

Re: Mysteries of Life
I had "friends" in high school who wrote lengthy stories in people's year books about the love life of said person (with a gal in the cafeteria, for instance). Maybe you can pass it off as one of those jokers putting something in your stuff. I'm lucky in that my wife is better looking (and a ton smarter) than the women I dated previous to meeting her. Of course, brains wasn't the topic, in those days...

Re: Mysteries of Life
Oh man you cant go back and probably dont want to see Rachel now. Same thing happened to me, we saw my ex girlfriend of almost 40 years ago while visiting my brother. Having thought fondly of her in past days - Wow did I do good leaving THAT area behind. Can we talk? Can you say big and and... I just did good that's all.

Re: Mysteries of Life
We have an old biker dump truck driver at work. He travels light.
Last fall he quit and left for Florida. He had found an old flame on the WWW, and wanted to see if he could light the old fire. Long story short, he's happily back at work driving his dump truck.

Re: Mysteries of Life
Thread hijack warning.
The plumber comment made me think of a true story. Years ago a carpenter here in town was building a house for an orthopedic surgeon. One night he called a mason, and insisted He needed some blocks laid the next day no matter what it cost. The mason finished the job and sent the bill to the doctor. The doc's wife called the mason and said "this bill is ridiculous, my husband is a doctor and he doesn't make that kind of money". The mason replied," Yeah I thought about being a doctor, but their ain't enough money in it". The mason's wife is named Rachael. Hum, maybe it's not a hijack since I worked the subject name in.

Re: Mysteries of Life
Well... a doctor gets paid good money for an attempt while the mason only gets paid for results. Ain't that right, Rachael?

Re: Mysteries of Life
After that house was finished, the doctor caught his wife in a compromising situation one night with a guy that owns a local oil company.
He ran out the back door nekked as a jaybird and knocked on the neighbors door. He got some clothes and a ride home, but his Corvette didn't fair so well. I found all this out when I saw it at the Chevrolet service department with bullet holes in the windshield and seat and drivers door.

Re: Mysteries of Life
After reading this, it may be fortunate for me that most of my girlfriends came when I was in my 30's and by that time, photograghs were largely outdated.
