61-63 Chrome hubcap crack repair?

I was able to find a set of 61-63 hubcaps that look like decent "driver" quality. I may eventually want them rechromed, but in the meantime would like to do whatever I can to stop the cracks that are there. I think the "correct" repair involves removing chrome and soldering the brass, but I'm thinking something like epoxy on the inside to strengthen the cap so the cracks don't get longer. Does anyone have experience with these - either a short term crack repair or complete restoration? A couple of pics .. Thanks for lookng!

Sounds crazy, but to stop the crack, drill a small hole at the ends of the crack. That will keep the crack's "travel" from going further.
