Glass vent tape?

Working on installing glass in the vent windows on my 65 GMC truck. Does anyone know what size tape is needed to set vent glass in the frame?

Thanks for your help, Angie

No, but I have some. I had bought everything to do mine, but I ended up sending them to Precision, to be rebuilt. So I never used mine.

Re: Glass vent tape?

I'd suggest taking the glass and frame to the oldest glass guy you can find. I had mine done and the guy tried 4 or 5 thicknesses before he found one he was happy with. Then he pressed the glass in with a special clamp. For $20, you can't beat that kind of service.

Re: Glass vent tape?

i had tape laying around from another project... drat....too thick.

Rather than ordering and waiting, i grabbed some 3m black windshield urethane from autozone. ran a bead, set the window where i wanted it, trimmed excess after it set. worked like a charm. wear gloves. tape frame to minimize cleanup.

used it to set wings and main windows.

alternative to tape, if you're open to it.

Re: Glass vent tape?

Thanks all for the information... I ended up using tape as spacers between the glass and frame and used the 3m product in the picture - worked out great.

Thanks again for all your help...

Angie
