Two types of utility buckets.

I was talking to Donna at Rick's Upholstery trying to get a price for buckets and bench. She tells me there are two types of utility buckets. One is shorter and wider and the console won't fit between the two and the other one is more of a sport utility little taller and narrower. As it turns out I own both sets. I was able to confirm it was a tape measure. Who knew.

Re: Two types of utility buckets.

Are you sure one isn’t a van bucket?

Re: Two types of utility buckets.

As far as blazers go, there was only the "sport" style and the "utility" style as far as I know.
Vans, motorhomes and big trucks all had similar seats but were different.

The sport utility was Donna's name for it from Rick's upholstery. I'm sure they were still just called utility regardless of the difference in size. To look at them they look identical but when you measure there is a definite difference, almost two inches. I have the narrow or taller utilities installed in my 71 and a console fits between them no problem. But it's tight I imagine with the 70 utilities I have the console would not fit. I'll try to post some pictures later with the tape measure showing what I found.

Re: Two types of utility buckets.

Metal backs are the short wide utilities, plastic back is the sport seat.
I have never heard of a sport utility seat.

Re: Two types of utility buckets.

I agree there's only sport buckets (narrow w/ plastic back) and utility buckets (wider w/ metal backs).

That said you can fit a console with the utility buckets as i've already researched it here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=754121
