Hey guys , can someone give me a part # for the upper radiator hose that I need ? Want to replace this "flex hose" with a nice new smooth hose.

Re: Radiator hose

I am sure someone will pop in with the number.
I have a nice, smooth, molded NAPA hose, that I must have trimmed the length, as there is no number.

Re: Radiator hose

At my computer, here are the hoses I used. My radiator is in stock 6 cylinder location, engine in V8 location. I attached photos, can't see all the lower, it goes down to clear the fan belts then straight back to the radiator..

The upper is a Gates 20416, I had to shorten the end that goes on the radiator. The lower is a Gates 20584, I had to shorten the radiator end on it too. The applications are not GM, I took in a bent wire and diameters. I got them at oreilys.

Re: Radiator hose

^ thanks for the info guys ! Those fancy hoses won't work for me , shortest one is 20" my upper hose is 14.5 inches. A nice smooth black hose is all I want. That flex hose looks like something to attach to a washing machine LOL

Re: Radiator hose

The 20416 fits a lot of different rigs so it should be in stock. Each rig having it's own cut here/cut there requirements.

The 20242 is the lower for a car but it looks too short. Take a look at a 20345 lower hose and see what you think.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Re: Radiator hose

if nothing fits your application you can do like an ogre does

buy a 45* ss exhaust tube and use rubber couplers on each end
i couldn't find a hose to go around my air cleaner and back to the stock neck
lmc and brothers only sell the convoluted hose, though i called both to confirm it was smooth
they both sent the convoluted
not a fan of the chrome hose covers either

also did my lower hose this way with my fan temp sensor in the lower hose

Re: Radiator hose

Ogre, that looks slick the way you did that . I'm gonna keep mine the way it is, just want to replace the ribbed hose with a smooth one .probably swap the water neck for a chrome one and stick with the one that points straight towards the front

Passed by an autozone ... They cross referenced the gates # . Got a nice hose that will work for the upper. Nothing in stock for my lower.

What are the diameters of these? My upper hose is 1 1/4" (both ends) and my lower is 1 1/4" on the radiator end and 1 3/4" on the pump end.

Re: Radiator hose

In a thread on the HAMB someone suggested using a length of cardboard defroster hose or the metalized heat to air cleaner tube to get the shape of the hose so you can go hose hunting at the parts house.

A lots of time on an upper hose you might be needing to take the section out of the middle of a longer hose the right diameter with several bends in it.
