Re: 55-59 rear hangers

The rivets that hold the mounts to the frame have been cut and removed , the mounts have been mounted in new locations and bolted on. The forward mount is only mounted with the upper bolts and is in a new location. This is just wrong !

I also noticed the rear bumper brackets , one is on the outside of the frame and the other is on the inside of the frame... Huh ?

Looks like at least one bolt (probably 2) comes up vertically through the frame flange with a pipe nipple as a spacer.
Still though, not the best.

Re: 55-59 rear hangers

Hmmm the bumper thing is weird. Never noticed that. Wonder why that would be? I don’t know what they were doing on the rear. I’m replacing all of it anyway, but do you think there are other issues? Why would they move the hangers?

Re: 55-59 rear hangers

When you say different location. Do you mean they just lowered them or moved them forward or backwards some? I’m trying to get them cleaned up or replace them. How do you tell where the original location is if they are moved? Thanks guys

Re: 55-59 rear hangers

I’m wanting to use the rear posie springs. Seems like everyone says those ride the best. I have some guys on here helping me out with some stock hangers so if that comes thru I can use the posies. If not the only other option i see is the TCI rear leaf spring kit

Re: 55-59 rear hangers

truk rides on stock 1958 oem springs

as many guys here doing 4 link/corvette installs you should be able to find something here on the cheap
i sandblasted/painted and reassembled with poly liners and new pins and shackles with the axle flipped on top
i do run air shocks as my c-notch is minimal to keep the bed stock level

Re: 55-59 rear hangers

My rear leaf springs are no good. I’m not even sure what they are out of since they changed all the hangers for some reason
