60-62 fan shroud questions

Today at one of my local yards I found this radiator shroud laying in the back of an old milk truck. I believe it is for a 60-62 but not quite sure as it seems a little different than the pictures I've seen on here. Or could it be from a passenger car from the same era? The bolt pattern appears to match the radiator in my 62. But it seems to stick out so far that it would hit my thermostat housing. Could that be because this is for a v8 truck and my truck has a six cylinder? Here are some pics and measurements. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: 60-62 fan shroud questions

I once, scored one of those in a junkyard too. Same deal, too deep. I figured it to be from a car with a longer nose than my truck. I cut mine down to size.

Impala I believe is what it is from.
I have heard you could trim it and rebend the flange to make it work.

Re: 60-62 fan shroud questions

It's from a '60s V8 Impala. I got one also + the radiator.

Thanks for the replies guys! If the guy doesn't want too much money for it then I'll likely buy it and cut it down. Still beats making one from scratch.

I usually see them go for $40-50 at swap meets.

Which is precisely what I did with my 62. Fiberglass over fabric on a foam buck that I broke out once the glass set up.

Re: 60-62 fan shroud questions

Thanks for the replies guys. I decided not to buy it since I would need to do a good bit of cutting and wreck an original fan shroud. I started making one today, two pieces of 4.5"-36" 20 ga sheet metal that I rolled into half circles and then bead rolled.

Re: 60-62 fan shroud questions

Here it is mocked up, I still need to bolt the two halfs together and make some brackets, but it's coming along pretty good.

Re: 60-62 fan shroud questions

This is looking awesome!
Are you going to make the bracket cover the radiator areas outside the shroud for maximum pull through?
Once you got it all worked out, you may want to think about offering them for sale. I know at least one guy who'd like one
