I have the $ saved up, but I can't find a set of wheels I love enough to spend 1,200-1,500 on new wheels/tires.

oh yeah, I think I paid around $100 for four of rthe 245s, then I bought the 205s later, they were allmost new, for around $100

been a while, but I was trying to get the mustang cleaned up some... took it to a bodyshop in town and traded some work for body and paint..that was last August..even though I was paying for some of the work and materials, the owner decided it wasn't a priority to get it out. long story short, it has been in paint jail for 11 months, and I found out that you get what you pay for. he tried to paint it once using what he had in his shop and paint never cured so he had to strip it back to primer and reshoot it. came out ok, but he didn't bother to fix some of the dings since I told him I was going to race it... that guy won't get any more business from me.. went with a simple paint scheme, just wanting to get it cleaned up some. now I have to get it ready to run, found an scca club near me that runs every other weekend I think... just need to clean up a few items and put in seatbelts, and make sure it is all safe..

looking back through this thread, I noticed I left out a few things. I was able to find a 9 inch out a 58 big ford that is the same width as the 66 mustang, so bought that, traded for some gears and built the 9 inch for the mustang. also, was able to trade my way into a t-5 trans, so I used Mustang Steves cable clutch kit and got that in.. also found out that there are a lot of headers that don't fit with different parts combinations, but now have shorties with 2 1/4 exhaust running out the back. subframe connectors are next to go in, then doing Shelby drop and I should be ready...

yes, Wimbledon white, I figured it would be an easy color to match if something happens in the future... painted the hood and taillight panel flat black to break up the white, and also because they are both pretty rough...the taillight panel was pretty crooked and the painter said that the hood had been sandblasted but I can live with them for now.. its going to be a driver, not a show car. started working on seat pan lowering and relocation today, early mustangs weren't built for my 6'7" frame and I need headroom for a helmet to race.. needed to rework my seat mount because when I moved it back, the back of the seat was hanging way off the seat pan, so moved it back about 4 inches and lowered it about 1 1/4".. still have to fix some holes in the floorboard and then weld it back down.. oh yeah, turns out the battery in my welding hood I got from tractor supply takes a battery that no one in town carries, and of course it was dead when I started trying to weld today;-( bought a new hood that supposedly is solar powered and ordering batteries off the web

Cool build. I recently inherited a R-O-U-G-H 66 coupe that I want to take a similar route on. When mine was new it was probably pretty nice...V8/auto AC console car. But it is now a major rust bucket. By the time rust repair is done, the roof skin will be all that's left original. I want to paint mine Wimbledon White, too. Your build is inspiring. Keep the updates and pics coming!
