Steering box upgrade

Were there other steering boxes from later models that are quicker ratio that will fit a 1972 c10?

Re: Steering box upgrade

Pick up steering box from a 73' to a 78' 1/2 ton.
That will drop right in and offer a faster ratio.
The advantage of those years is that the fittings for the hoses, etc will still imperial (not metric) to my knowledge.
If you go newer you might need to add an adapter between the hoses and the gearbox.

All good

Re: Steering box upgrade

Lares offers 2 different rebuilds, one with factory ratio (4-4.5 turns) and one with the quicker ratio (3.5 turns) like the later boxes. I've had good success with them.
