I can't send pics but the 4wd rear spring hangers are longer then 2wd hangers and my 78 has 2wd spring hangers to clear the receiver hitch is the only reason I can think they did that

You are still hard to understand.

I am going to assume you have a 4wd(you did't say how many wheel drive your truck is)

If the spring hangers are riveted to the frame, they are original. If they are bolted to the frame, thay are not original.

Re: Strange thing on my 78 crew

Check the SPID in the glove box. In the 70's, if you were willing to wait rather then buy off the lot, you could really customize a truck. Could be that was a factory option to accommodate that hitch. Or it could have been a dealer special customization.

Is there something not working with the truck as it is? If it has been working 40 years as is, I would not be in a big hurry to spend money to 'fix' it.

Re: Strange thing on my 78 crew

I am restoring the truck and I want to run a 4 inch lift but with this set up I'll have 8 inches in the back to make it right just trying to keep it factory looking other then the lift

Re: Strange thing on my 78 crew

Early k30s had the 2wd hangers. You need to pull hangers from a later k30 if you want the taller hangers.

If you're restoring it then keep the factory hangers. That's pretty unique to your truck. Put a 4 inch spring and then that block and it would still look like an original lifted.

Re: Strange thing on my 78 crew

yep first year or so was 2wd front hangers for rear springs and 3" block with bump stop molded to it .

the 4wd hanger pattern for riviots is different than 2wd pattern .

do a 4" flip kit and leave the block or swap hangers and ditch block .

side note if you ditch the blocks send me a private message i will buy them .

also early dana 60 fronts had a cast iron cap on the pass side king pin . the later units went tin cap .
