Re: My 1st build 70 CST Project

Well its been awhile since I've updated this. I haven't gotten to much acomplished since the last post, well I shouldnt say that, I've been doing a lot of mudding. But a quick update, mudding up welds and that nasty cab corner, still got some more to do. Hung the doors back on to get the body lines straight. After months of sitting bare metal I finally started getting some flash rusting going on so I cleaned it up and my dad I and sprayed the epoxy primer on it. I actually got to spray it. This was my frist time painting. I dont think i did a bad job.

Starting to work on the bed now. got it put back on the frame. I think i'm gonna have it sand blasted, but i found some rot in one of the floor supports, so im gonna cut that out and weld in a new piece.

Re: My 1st build 70 CST Project (insert cool name here)

ive been doing some job hunting lately so i havent had much time for the truck but i finally got the rot cut out of the bed support and the new piece welded in. im not sure if my welding has improved or if its the fact that im using a different welder but it doesnt look bad, for an amature lol. still gotta grind down the welds a little then hopefully off to the blaster within the next week. its slow progress but its better than nothing lol. no pics yet, ill try to get some.

Re: My 1st build 70 CST Project (insert cool name here)

Well I got the rot cut out of the one bed floor support and welded in a new piece. My welding still leaves something to be desired, but its underneath no one will see it lol. Got it back from the sand blaster the other day. They left the sides for me to sand cause they didnt want to worp the metal. What a pain, that stuff doesnt want to come off. You can see in the one pic where I started sanding, I've got about 5 hrs into it now I think. I wish it would just magicly fall off lol. Ok heres the pics...

Re: My 1st build 70 CST Project (insert cool name here)

It's slowly coming along. I'm waiting for a replacement bed panel(which should be here today)to finish up the bed. I started painting the frame. I think it came out great for an amature. There are some runs here and there but its the frame who looks at that??? lol. the next step is to finish the body work on the bed and get it primed and get my new blazer tank mounted. Here's some pics of the frame.

Re: My 1st build 70 CST Project (insert cool name here)

Wow so I knew it had been a long time since i've posted an update, but I did not know it has been over a year since my last post. The depressing part is I have made very little progress. I am still working on that same bed panel. It's half way done. The good news is the bed is primered. I have a lot going on in the coming weeks but I hope to have the bed done and then get started on replacing the cab corner. I will get some updated pics and post them this week.

Re: My 1st build 70 CST Project (insert cool name here)

Hey everyone, its been a long time but I'm back. Life got in the way of my build plus I kind of lost steam/interest. I do have some updated pictures. I ended up replacing the driver cab corner that was full of bondo. I also welded up a hole in the firewall, I'm guessing was made from that caddy motor that was in the truck. Anyway, I'll get to the pictures.

Re: My 1st build 70 CST Project (insert cool name here)

Thanks for checkin in, yeah I've made a little progress, still a long way to go. I'm not real sure where to go from here. My dads been helping me and showing me what to do. We have different schedules now and it's hard to get together, one reason I haven't done much to it.

Re: My 1st build 70 CST Project (insert cool name here)

It has been a long since I've been on here... As far as an update on the truck, well I just dropped a 5.3/4l60e combo in it. Waiting to hear it run, hopefully before the end of the year. I have relocated the tank to the rear under the bed. I will be doing a side marker fuel door. Literally just ordered the parts. Let's see what else... The plan is to get it to paint before spring but I'm not sure I'm still on schedule for that deadline. That's about it I think. Sorry no pictures on my tablet, but I have some on my phone, I will try to remember to post some later. Thanks for checking in.

Just looked through the whole thread. I had not seen it before. I would have thought at the pace you started that it would have been done by now. HAHA This from a guy that has not finished his or even touched it in 3 years. I'm in. Maybe you will inspire me.
