TF Tow Package Options

I am tyring to figure out what my options are for updating my towing package. I am going to swap out my rear bumper (previously held the trailer hitch). Any insights into what other people have used would be appreciated. thanks

Re: TF Tow Package Options

A few outfits sell receiver hitches made for those trucks to work with a sport bumper.

You might luck out and find a hitch for a later truck that is the same width for the frame rails and be able to get one and bolt it on as the frame width stayed pretty close to the same for a number of years.

The hitch he used was this one https://www.amazon.com/CURT-13028-Cl...I-Receiver/dp/

Re: TF Tow Package Options

I made mine from a hitch for a mid '80s Suburban. There are some hitch threads with pictures:

Re: TF Tow Package Options

Here is mine a Draw Tite from a 70-80 truck with 34" wide frame. Most are made to mount to bottom of frame. I had to add side brackets to accommodate the rear gas tank. Note the configuration of the cross bar and receiver tube; the type shown allows the receiver to tuck right under the bumper but hides the cross bar and side brackets behind the bumper. I have seen some the hang lower with the receiver welded perpendicular to the cross bar.
