Emergency Brake Rod

Hey Guys,

Got a '71 K20. When I got it, all it had was one rusted out front cable, no intermediate cable, and two rotting rear cables. I got a whole setup from Inline Tube. Really nice stuff. I went to attach the cables and found them really sloppy. After doing some research, I see that there is an equalizer rod required and two guides, which I was missing. Ordered those up, and now I can't for the life of me see where the equalizer rod is supposed to attach.

I've seen a pic where it looks like it attaches on the passenger side frame rail, by the transmission crossmember, though I can't see any place where that might be on my truck. Does anyone have any real pics on their trucks of where the rod attaches to on the frame? Mine is a 350, 4 speed, if that makes a difference. Thanks guys!

Re: Emergency Brake Rod

There is an indentation in the frame for the rod. It is way forward of the trans x member. On my 2wd it is forward of the bell housing. You will see the indentation that will point the rod to the rear center. The guides fit in frame holes along side the trans. Sorry no pics.
