throwout bearing
hey guys, quick question, 77 chevy 4x4 w/ 4spd muncie , the to bearing has a raised hump where it snaps into the fork. which way does the "hump" face? in toward the fork, or away from it toward the open side ? thanks !!!

bearing side or maybe as you put it, "hump face" faces the pressure plate.

Is the hump your're talking about in the grove that fits on the clutch fork ? if so that is just there to keep the bearing from spinning in the fork. I usually put the hump inside the fork, but I don't think it matters.

Thanks guys, this thing is going together right now and I found no referance for it anywhere. As usual, I got an answer from the "real" source, the ones who actually do this stuff the same as I do, on a daily driver, in the driveway ! I'll put the hump toward the enclosed side of the fork. Looking at it and trying it, it seems to also keep the backside of the bearing from contacting the fork even though it shouldent be pushed that far. Makes sense ! Wear and tear perhaps.
