New guy from WV

Hi all, I'm glad I found this site, I've always been a big fan of the 67-72 body style trucks, I dont have one yet, I've been looking, its hard to find one in good shape where I live, because we have harsh winters, and they are all rusted up. However there is one that this old guy has, and its in pretty good shape. I might have a chance of getting it.

Welcome to the forums.. I'm sure there's a truck out there somewhere with your name on it.

Welcome! It's a big state.. where are you at? I'm in Martinsburg.

There are a couple trucks in this area with signs in the window.. I know of a 68 lwb and a 70 swb for sale.

I'm from Thomas, I live near blackwater falls. Martinsburg sounds familiar, but I dont know exactly where it is. What shape are these trucks in, especially the 70, are they 2 or 4 wheel drive? I'm looking for a 2 wheel drive to make a street truck, have any idea how much they want?

Martinsburg is in the eastern panhandle. That's about 120 miles from you.

The 70 is a 2wd swb truck and looks good from 30ft driving by. I'll see if I can get some particulars on it tonight for you. It's by the street some days and not others so it might take a day of three to get a phone number.

Welcome from PA! don;t buy a truck just because you like it, I made a mistake a few years ago when buying my first truck, 2wd short stepside rusted out body, needed everything and I paid lots of money, so is always better to start off with a rust free body than buying a rust bucket and spending tons of money to fix it up.

I know, I'm gonna try to find one with a good solid body. I was thinking about buying one last spring, a 70 2 wheel drive long bed that was pretty shot, but my friend talked me out of it. Rust free bodys are imposible to find around here. What part of PA are you from?

Welcome from Maryland.I know what you mean about finding a rust-free truck up there.I`m from Friendsville,MD.,live downstate now.I`ve seen cars/trucks rust away sittin`in a barn.It sure is beautiful up in that country you`re in.My cousins and friends up there either drive rust buckets or newer stuff in the winter, then enjoy their nice rides all through the good weather.

Re: New guy from WV

I haven't forgotten about you, but the truck hasn't been on the road side lately.. I think it only goes out there when the owner is home.

There is also a decent looking 65 (? ... body style anyway) short-step in the area. Not pretty, but it looks solid and very restorable. That is out all the time. I could get the skinny on that too if you're interested.

I don't know what the deal is with the 68 lwb. It's been there for a long time now. No one answers the phone number (it was the first truck I tried to buy) or returns messages.

I even left a message - "Please call me back and tell me if I am calling the wrong number" once. lol
