Re: Slot lovers unite!

Early Slot manufacturers would tape off the front of the rim and paint from the back of the rim. My ansens sprints were done this way. There is a tell tale sign... There is a unpainted edge at the front of the rim when the tape was removed.

Re: Slot lovers unite!

Hi

It’s no bother at all feel free to email anytime. I didn’t get in till after dark but best I can tell they look like they measure 3 ½” on the backside laying a flat rod across the back of the wheel and putting a tape to the center of the wheel that the hub sits against. I then did the same on the front side and they were right at 3” with about a ½” thick wheel in the center. I think this is what you are needing but if not please let me know and I will try it again.

Thanks

Perry

oh ive got pics i drove to school today illegaly with no lights! funnn going to get a filler this week and notch bed floor after i clean dads shop lol pics morrow'

these sound like they'll work and worth 200? about 1 hr drive in my truck..

Re: Slot lovers unite!

("anyone know if the BS will work on my truck 6 lug? ")

The wheels on this 68 were from an old jeep, probably wagoneer, and they worked great. The only problem came from the large rivets on the brake drum. The wheels do not have a relief that allows them to lay flat against the face of the drum. The fix is to either remove the rivets. or mark the locations and drill a shallow hole to make room for them. I've read that all trucks did not have these rivets on the drum, in which case the wheels work perfect, but mine did.

Re: Slot lovers unite!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SHELB...item1c10de9e17 Check these out. I think I copied and pasted right.? Hey, it worked! I had a 72 Gran Torino Sport with a 351 Cleveland in it. I stuffed a cam in it with a 750Holly,Hooker headers, and 4 brand new Keystone Slotted Mags with 275 T/As all around! They were the serious rodders choice back then, everybody else was going for the Craiger SS. I had a 3-speed FMX auto tranny and a 9" posi with 3:43 gears. It pinned the speedo (120) @4700rpm and wound right up to 7000rpms. We would race 6 miles of remote interstate from Riverside, MO to Platte Woods, Topped out! I was smoking a 440 Charger, well....I was holding a 3-4 car lead on him when the left rear Mag let go! It cracked right through the slots! It launched the azz end of that Torino 10 feet in the air! The car came down spinning in a shower of sparks, I dont how many 360s I did but I was dizzy when it finally stopped! Never hit a rail or went off the 3 lane interstate! The tire and wheel was found the next day in a nursery (tree nursery!) 1/4 mile off the interstate, still aired up! Keystone gave me 4 new wheels and tires! I had to give them all of mine , but I was all for the replacements and too young and dumb to try and get any money out of them! "Those were the days!"

is there a chance I could find 2 15/8 for the rear maybe? And you folks seem to think the wagooner wheels fit will fit a 67-72

Re: Slot lovers unite!

Are there any other mag wheels?

These came off of a 60's era 1946 Willy's gasser. My Dad had them on his 1970 C10 with 5 lug adapters. When he put 6 lug slots on his truck... these were passed down to me.

Original ET 5 window slots with the "uni-lugs"

Gary those ET's look great. My first set of aluminums were ET polished like yours on my first truck. Same sizes too. Long time ago. I miss them.

Eagle1 etching cleaner. Spray it on, let it foam, hose it off.

Then hit it with mothers mag and aluminum polish in small amounts and rub the crap out of it till it turns black and then wipe it off before it dries. Lots of elbow greese.

Best looking wheels you can put on these trucks. Go together like peanut butter and jelly! Heres mine. Took a year of searching to put together a good set.

Re: Slot lovers unite!

When I was a kid I never cared much for slots. More then likely because they were about the only type of custom wheel you saw. I had a jeep wagoneer, and couldn't wait to get the slots off of it in the 80's. Times have changed, and nothing says ol' school like some vintage indy style mags. These are US Mags. I've always used the etching cleaner, and never bothered with polishing. The center caps are aftermarket.
