Not a problem that's what we're here for. It's not going to bad for my first venture into body work. But definitely not easy. Body guys definitely work for there money. Just wish i had bought both outer floor pieces, the inner rocker by itself, imo, seem to be a little harder. Glad that it will be covered up.

Re: Started on new cab for the toy

i have been finding that a lot of the new patch panels have rust under the black e-coat primer. so i am sanding both sides good with 180 grit paper and giving them a shot of epoxy primer.

Re: Started on new cab for the toy

Didn't find any on mine. That would suck finding rust on new parts. I do like your truck build. It would be alot of fun to play in. I can bet that your ready to get the truck all muddy.

Re: Started on new cab for the toy

Finally made some progress on the cab in the last week. Got the left sided cab corner in and almost welded in, it was more of a pain then the otherside. The cab had settled a bit and had to get it back in shape so corner would fit right. Next time i will wait on cutting it all out till needed and will buy the plans for Kevin's cab dolly. Get the rocker in, fix one more rust spot, fill in the hole for the gas tank lines and all the metal work "should" be done. Then i will pull the front and back glass to make sure that area is good to go. Will get some pics put up later in the week.

Somebody always has to put in their .02 sense. Tell her you had to massage it, they work better that way. Good thing for a bfh, they fix anything.

Re: Started on new cab for the toy

Some new updates. Got all the rust repair done, at least that i have found. Got the rocker and cab corner fitted and matched up to my liking. Filled up some unneeded holes and flattened and welded up the gas tank mounting holes. Also welded up most of the seam on the top/back of the cab. Thought it would look cleaner and another place water can't get in. Took out the glass, most of the metal is good, the usual couple rust spots. I'm working on trying to blast it myself, just need to find a location for doing. Here are some pics of it. Will get some more this next week. "" "" "" ""

Re: Started on new cab for the toy

Thanks Robert. I think i will have to pass. One of these is enough for me. I now know why Kevin and the other body guys get paid good for this stuff. Not to hard, but it's not the easiest metal i've done. I would rather rebuild a dirt car frame, not so intricate. But i will give you any help ya need. If we lived closer together, i would come help ya though. Next time i'm down that way, i can give ya some pointers.

Re: Started on new cab for the toy

Finally made some progress on the cab. I got it blasted by a place in wichita. Did a very good job, was some spots he missed but very minimal. I will definitely use them again. And then got some epoxy primer shot on it to protect it till i can finish fixing a few small rust spots that appeared after blasting. Then it is on to paint. Here are some pics after it was blasted.
