My wedding anniversary is coming up

Just don't ask me what day it is. Because I don't remember. I know it's sometime in June.

I was thinking. "Where's that marriage certificate? I need to get ahead of this or I'm going to have a situation.

But then my wife asked me. "Do you know when our anniversary is? I don't remember the date".

I just got off the hook. She didn't remember either.

We both had a good laugh when I told her that I didn't remember as well.

So we decided to forget the exact date and that we could just pick a day in June. Maybe a different one every year. Make things interesting.

Her birthday is a different story. I'd better not forget that one.

Re: My wedding anniversary is coming up

I was married in '90 and been divorced since '09. I will never forget that beautiful 70* fresh bright blue sky mountain air ride the bike off into the mother of pearl sunset day. It was October 7th or 8th! I'm sure of the year because I bought the red '90 Blazer earlier that year

I could tell you the birthdays of all the girlfriends I've gone steady with long enough to spend their birthday with them. I have strong survival instincts.

My wife insisted on Valentine's Day, too. We're lucky. Ain't no way we're going to forget that, what with all the hoopla!

Re: My wedding anniversary is coming up

No way that I'm going to forget 11-22. She forgets it all the time but then she wasn't old enough to remember 1963.

So why did we pick that date ? Well, we were in a hurry and that's just how it worked out. That year it was the Sunday before Thanksgiving. After the holiday weekend we started off out of state where I had a new job.

Actually, I wonder why we don't just celebrate the Sunday before Thanksgiving instead of the actual date....

I'll admit I had forgotten the date but not the event. I was a high school freshman, in class when the announcement came over the PA system. Some of the girls were crying. The end of Camelot....

On a happier note, I have never forgotten my wife's birthday. It's on Valentine's Day. Two birds with one stone.

Well, I was in the sixth grade.

Our date was 11-26-71, the day after Thanksgiving. We bought a new 72 Cheyenne soon after, and it was in her name, because I wasn't old enough to sign for it and she was.

Re: My wedding anniversary is coming up

I wanted to get married on Feb 29th. The wife put a quick end to that dream!

If I ever forget the day and year we got married, all I have to do is look at my left arm. Smartest thing I have ever done is getting that tattooed way back them.

Re: My wedding anniversary is coming up

We have our engraved wedding glasses in the cupboard in the dining room. I just refer to them once in a while for confirmation.

On our 14th, the wife got all Facebooky and sent this big "Happy 15th Anniversary" card thing out to me and her 8,500 friends... I was at work on a pretty big project, super busy and just really have never been into getting all into FB anyway, but the notification came up and caught me by surprise. I started counting fingers, then toes and quickly shot her a text reminding her that it wasn't our 15th but our 14th. I wanted her to be able to edit it on the sly and didn't want to say it on the internet. Didn't want to embarrass her, you know? She doesn't like being embarrassed (have no idea why she's with me!)

I got no response to my text which was less than 5 minutes after her first post to the whole Facebook universe. What I did get was another post to all 8,500 of her friends saying that her husband is just like every other husband who forgets an anniversary or even how many years he'd been married.... It was like watching a slow motion wreck.

The posts from her friends started rolling in, reminding HER of the year we were married! It was pretty funny since she is one of those that is never wrong. See, we ran off to Tahoe to get married and the only people that were there were my best buddy, her two best friends and our oldest daughter who was 4 at the time. Her two best friends and our daughter had no problem with calling her out in public. POST DELETED!

My oldest now 26 still brings it up. It still makes me laugh.

Two years ago just before our 19th, I asked her if she wanted to do a big party for our 20th. The panic that set in was plainly visible, like a deer in the headlights, and I felt terrible. I told her, "I mean a party for our 20th next year Hon". Man, I thought she was gonna split my skull open!

Re: My wedding anniversary is coming up

That's funny...I have referred to those engraved glasses a couple of times myself.
We have our 30th this year. We were going to go to Italy, but that is not going to happen now.

My Mother was pregnant for me in 1963..So I am just a baby compared to you guys.

I was a 3rd grader. I don't have the date engrained either. I know it was November and it was '63. I'll always remember that day because we got off school early No really, I remember it had quite an impact on the people. A much more innocent society compared to today. I remember my sweetheart was Renee and her folks always had silver convertibles with red top and interior.

Re: My wedding anniversary is coming up

I was thinking I had been married for 8 or 9 years or something like that this year... nope... 12 this fall. Been together for almost 17 years. I was slow with the ring thing...

Our little person's due date is currently our anniversary. I kinda hope it's a few days before/after. I mean, special brown chicken brown cow day and a kids birthday party don't sound like all that much fun on the same day.

Not this guy -- it was late spring (I think) in 1977 (for sure) so at about 43 years ago, forgive the lack of precision in my memory.

Now hiredates, that's a different matter. My first real job just out of high school -- July 17, 1967.
Second job, the one I retired from 10+ years ago -- Oct. 4, 1976.
