Max tire height on stock rally wheels and 4" front drop??

Truck is an 87 at stock height currently but i am contemplating a 4/5 drop. I would like to run the stock rally wheels but currently have 30.5" tires. Pretty sure the 30.5" will still work in the back but was hoping i could get away with a 29" or possibly 29.5" tire in the front. I dont want to battle rubbing issues though. Any feedback would be great.

not sure how to convert to tire size in inches, i have BFG Radial T/A's P245-60-R15's on 15x8" rally's with 4" backspace on the front, and 295-50-R15's with 15x10" rally's with a 4 1/2" backspace on the rear... and they fit just fine, but i only have mcgaughy's 2.5 inch front drop spindles, and flip kit in the rear...

Re: Max tire height on stock rally wheels and 4" front drop??

That would be around 26.5" total height. I am almost certain my current 30.5" tires would be fine on a 2.5" front drop. But that extra 1.5" will be the sticking point. Pretty sure i will have to go with a 29".

For future reference, the first number (245) is the tire width in mm. the second is the sidewall ratio (60). Convert the width to inches (245/25.4), then multiply by the ratio (.60). That will give sidewall height. Double it and add the rim size.

do you know of anyone else that has the same tires/rims, or something close that you could try one on yours to see how it fits?

I was running 30" tires with a 4.5" drop with no problems at all. Now I have 255 70 15's (29")and I have even more room.

29" tires w/ about 4.5" drop, 7" rims. No issues.
