Little parts, big differences?

I'm about to place an order with LMC, obviously each truck is different but what are some little cheap parts that make a big difference just being new?

Re: Little parts, big differences?

the problem with LMC is that alot of their things are really poor fitment.. I wasnt wild about the fit of their side marker lights, rubber floor mat and some of the other things ive purchased for my beast

Re: Little parts, big differences?

I'm mostly buying not critical items, like the rubber bumpers for the glovebox, gas door and door handle gaskets. I am getting the rear tail light assemblies and headlight bezels though, hoping they fit well. Most of my pieces I've scoured the junkyard suburbans for the nicest pieces.

Re: Little parts, big differences?

Keep in mind the headlight bezels will be plastic. Not sure what year truck you have but if it is round headlight you probably won't be happy with plastic. The only metal ones are original. I have been very unhappy with my purchases from LMC. NEVER EVER buy a tank anti squeak kit! I paid $10 per side and it was LITERALLY roofing tar paper! Not even good thick tar paper. It actually had the lines on it for setting up shingles on it! What a rip off!

Re: Little parts, big differences?

Dome light and the little rubber bumpers you'll probably be ok with. The door handle gaskets you're just as well off buying a sheet of gasket making material and cutting your own, I was very unhappy with the amount of trimming I had to do on the ones I bought from LMC. The bed bolt kit you'll be ok with. The weatherstrips on the doors you'll be disappointed with on the fit, I tossed mine in the trash after a few months and bought OE. The tail lamps you might as well go to O'Reillys and buy the ones they have, same thing and 1/2 the price. Hinge pins you'd be happier if you bought some OE ones and not have to worry as much about finding proper bushings or possibly drilling your hinges out a little. The cab corners... I guess you can always send them back after you get them, will only lose the shipping costs.

Where do you get OE weatherstrips? That's one of the main things I need as I currently don't have any. Does orileys have the full tail light assemblies or just the lenses?

There is a lot of things still available at your local gm dealer. When I was doing my restoration I was really suprised to what was still available. I ordered my door gaskets from the local dealer. I ordered everything I could from them. Usa made

Re: Little parts, big differences?

I bought alot of little things from them for my 72 blazer when I was finishing it up. No problems here, fitment was fine on this stuff.

Things like carpet, tail light lenses and taillight surround trim, side market lights, some of the outside trim items for the tailgate, fender emblems, mirrors, CST door emblems, rubber bumpers that you mentioned, dash pad, etc....

As far as that stuff goes it's all about the same stuff you find anywhere else. I found prices about the same as other vendors. Fitment was as good as could be expected, good enough for a daily driver, and probably not any worse than GM did back in 72 (remember they were just mass produced trucks) Different story though if you want to over restore one.

My only complaint with LMC is they have no customer service center to ask questions. You always get someone on the line that knows nothing,,,almost like a simple call center to take orders and that's it. So you have to know exactly what you want.

Re: Little parts, big differences?

I've done my share of junkyards, scored some really nice pieces already, 90% of my interior is from a few early 90's suburbans and 1 project c10 a tree fell on.

Re: Little parts, big differences?

I'd definately stay away from their patch panels. It was thin and flimsy and just didn't fit.

Re: Little parts, big differences?

LMC rip you off on shipping. I have placed the same order at LMC and another company at the same time. The shipping price was 3 times higher with LMC, when I contacted them, the ansver was that this is the method and company they use for shipping and they are not interrested to discuss or try anything else.
Have not tried them after that, and probably never will

My misstake, I was not quite clear in my comment. I make international orders, and there is a big difference between LMC and other vendors. LMC is in my opinion not very customer friendly.

I secound the above post on precision parts, never had any problems with their products.
